Larry Dominick celebrates his 18th year as Town President
The Town of Cicero Board of Trustees congratulated Town President Larry Dominick for his 18 years in office serving the citizens of the community adopting a resolution memorializing his service.
Dominick was first sworn into office on May 10, 2005. During his 18 years in office, the President Dominick with the support of the Board of Trustees, has made Cicero a safer community and reduced crime significantly, encouraged more businesses to relocate here and to bring thousands of new jobs for residents.
Under his leadership, Cicero built the Cicero Senior Center, providing the most expansive number of services to seniors, and built a community center for families and children, added several new parks and built a state-of-the-art animal shelter for abandoned pets.
“It has been a great honor, I have been lucky, 53 years with the town. I have been very lucky and blessed. The Town Board has gone along with everything I have asked them too, and that is why we are successful,” President Dominick said.
“We work as a team. It is not one person. It takes the whole group. And I thank the citizens for electing me. I am blessed to have my wife and kids always behind me too, so that’s important. Thank you.”
Board members each applauded President Dominick for the wide ranging services the Town is able to provide to its residents.
Cicero Supervisor Joe Virruso said, “You are the best president and the best 18 years the Town of Cicero has ever had. You are the greatest.”
Trustee Blanca Vargas added, “Thank you Larry. On behalf of the Mexican American community, we do appreciate the services that you provide to us.”
Clerk Maria Punzo-Arias said, “President Dominick. It is a very well deserved recognition. 18 years. It seems like it was just a couple of years ago. We thank you in advance for the past and the present and past support that you are providing not only to us board members but to all the residents out there. Thank you for being there. We wish you lots of luck.”
Trustee Victor Garcia said, “I want to also congratulate you for your support and for your successful career int he town and continuing to do the best for the town.”
Collector Fran Reitz said, “President Dominick, I just want to say the past 18 years have been wonderful. This place has never been better and I can attest to that because I have been here since I was a 22 year old college student doing my internship here and I fell in love with government. You care about the people. You love the children int he community. You love our seniors. Anything you see as a problem, you fix it. You have a big heart Larry. Thank you for being a wonderful public servant.”
The resolution was approved unanimously.
President Dominick was also presented with awards from community leaders including from JTI Injury Consulting whose owners Iliana and Francisco Javier recognize President Dominick and his wife Senior Center Director Diana Dominick for all that they do for the community.
Larry Dominick celebra sus 18 años como presidente del Municipio
La Junta Directiva del Municipio de Cicero felicitó al Presidente del Municipio, Larry Dominick, por sus 18 años en el cargo sirviendo a los ciudadanos de la comunidad y adoptó una resolución que conmemora su servicio.
Dominick asumió el cargo por primera vez el 10 de mayo de 2005. Durante sus 18 años en el cargo, el presidente Dominick, con el apoyo de la Junta de Síndicos, ha hecho de Cicero una comunidad más segura y reducido significativamente el crimen, alentó a más empresas a reubicarse aquí y a traer miles de nuevos puestos de trabajo para los residentes.
Bajo su liderazgo, Cicero construyó el Centro para Persona Mayores de Cicero, brindando la mayor cantidad de servicios para personas mayores, y construyó un centro comunitario para familias y niños, agregó varios parques nuevos y construyó un refugio de animales de última generación para mascotas abandonadas.
“Ha sido un gran honor, he tenido suerte, 53 años con el municipio. He sido muy afortunado y bendecido. La Junta Municipal ha estado de acuerdo con todo lo que les he pedido también, y por eso tenemos éxito”, dijo el presidente Dominick.
“Trabajamos en equipo. No es una sola persona. Se necesita todo el grupo. Y agradezco a los ciudadanos por elegirme. Tengo la suerte de tener a mi esposa e hijos siempre detrás de mí, así que eso es importante. Gracias”.
Cada uno de los miembros de la junta aplaudió al presidente Dominick por la amplia gama de servicios que el pueblo puede brindar a sus residentes.
El supervisor de Cicero, Joe Virruso, dijo: “Usted es el mejor presidente y los mejores 18 años que ha tenido el Municipio de Cicero. Usted es el mejor”.
La síndica Blanca Vargas agregó: “Gracias Larry. En nombre de la comunidad mexicoamericana, apreciamos los servicios que nos brinda”.
La secretaria Maria Punzo-Arias dijo: “Presidente Dominick. Es un reconocimiento muy bien merecido. 18 años. Parece que fue hace solo un par de años. Le agradecemos de antemano por el pasado y el presente y el apoyo pasado que están brindando no solo a nosotros, los miembros de la junta, sino también a todos los residentes. Gracias por estar allí. Le deseamos mucha suerte”.
El síndico Víctor García dijo: “También quiero felicitarlos por su apoyo y por su exitosa carrera en el Municipio y por continuar haciendo lo mejor para el municipio”.
La Recolectora Fran Reitz dijo: “Presidente Dominick, solo quiero decir que los últimos 18 años han sido maravillosos. Este lugar nunca ha sido mejor y puedo dar fe de ello porque he estado aquí desde que era un estudiante universitario de 22 años haciendo una pasantía aquí y me enamoré del gobierno. Te preocupas por la gente. Amas a los niños de la comunidad. Amas a nuestros adultos mayores. Cualquier cosa que veas como un problema, lo solucionas. Tienes un gran corazón, Larry. Gracias por ser un maravilloso servidor público.”
La resolución fue aprobada por unanimidad.
El Presidente Dominick también recibió premios de líderes comunitarios, incluido JTI Injury Consulting, cuyos propietarios, Iliana y Francisco Javier, reconocen al Presidente Dominick y a su esposa, Diana Dominick, directora del Centro para Personas Mayores, por todo lo que hacen por la comunidad.
