Lead Pipe and FEMA Updates for the Town of Cicero

During the September 12th, 2023 board meeting a resolution authorizing Town President Larry Dominick to enter into a certain agreement with Tai Ginsberg & Associates to provide consulting services to the Town of Cicero was approved.
 
Paul Rosenfeld, a representative of Tai Ginsberg & Associates was present at the board meeting and gave a lead pipe replacement and FEMA update.
“Two years ago we received a project grant from Congressman Garcia who got an earmark for the Town of Cicero. There’s two billion dollars that the federal government put out to be able to do a lead pipe water replacement,” said Paul Rosenfeld the Federal Government consultant.
“Congressman Garcia was able to get us two million dollars in an earmark for the total cost of 2.6 million dollars for the project,” stated Rosenfeld.

In addition, Rosenfeld gave an update on exactly what stage the project was in.
“The project is in what is called the 50 percent document stage which the town gave their documents to the Army Corps of Engineers. The Army Corps of Engineers is going to be leading the replacement project. We should be receiving in the next 60 to 90 days the final documents back to the Town,” explained Rosenfeld.
The project will really begin once the town receives the documents back.
“They will be able to proceed with replacing the lead pipes with bigger pipes that are going to help with water flow, it’s going to allow for the Fire Department to get more water out when there is an emergency and should help with our overall process,” shared Rosenfeld.
The second part of the update included information about FEMA.

“As we are getting these two million dollars at the same time the federal government through FEMA has already been giving checks to your residents because of the flood that happened on the first weekend of July,” said Rosenfeld.

Rosenfeld acknowledged President Larry Dominick’s hard work after the flood.
“The emergency declaration that we were able to get done through the county, the state and the federal government that would never had happened without the tremendous hard work of President Dominick and all the other people here in Cicero,” shared Rosenfeld.
He also mentioned, “it happened in really light speed and already we are seeing that residents are receiving checks in the mail”.

Actualización sobre las Tuberías de Plomo y FEMA para el Municipio de Cicero

Durante la reunión de la junta del 12 de septiembre de 2023, se aprobó una resolución que autoriza al Presidente Municipal Larry Dominick a celebrar un acuerdo con Tai Ginsberg & Associates para proporcionar servicios de consultoría al Municipio de Cicero.

Un representante de Tai Ginsberg & Associates estuvo presente en la reunión de la junta y brindó una actualización sobre la sustitución de las tuberías de plomo y FEMA.

“Hace dos años, recibimos una subvención para un proyecto del Congresista García, quien obtuvo una asignación específica para el Municipio de Cicero. El gobierno federal destinó dos mil millones de dólares para llevar a cabo la sustitución de tuberías de plomo”, dijo Paul Rosenfeld, el consultor del Gobierno Federal.

“El Congresista García pudo obtener para nosotros dos millones de dólares como asignación específica para cubrir el costo total del proyecto de 2.6 millones de dólares”, afirmó Rosenfeld.

Además, Rosenfeld proporcionó una actualización sobre en qué etapa exacta se encuentra el proyecto.

“El proyecto se encuentra en lo que se denomina la etapa de documentos del 50 por ciento, en la cual el municipio entregó sus documentos al Cuerpo de Ingenieros del Ejército. El Cuerpo de Ingenieros del Ejército liderará el proyecto de sustitución. Deberíamos recibir los documentos finales de vuelta al municipio en los próximos 60 a 90 días”, explicó Rosenfeld.

El proyecto realmente comenzará una vez que el municipio reciba los documentos de vuelta.

“Podrán proceder con la sustitución de las tuberías de plomo por tuberías más grandes que ayudarán al flujo de agua. Esto permitirá que el Departamento de Bomberos obtenga más agua en caso de una emergencia y debería contribuir a nuestro proceso general”, compartió Rosenfeld.

La segunda parte de la actualización incluyó información sobre FEMA.

“A medida que estamos recibiendo estos dos millones de dólares, al mismo tiempo el gobierno federal, a través de FEMA, ya ha estado entregando cheques a sus residentes debido a la inundación que ocurrió el primer fin de semana de julio”, dijo Rosenfeld.

Rosenfeld reconoció el arduo trabajo del Presidente Larry Dominick después de la inundación.

“La declaración de emergencia que pudimos lograr a través del condado, el estado y el gobierno federal nunca habría ocurrido sin el tremendo trabajo del Presidente Dominick y todas las demás personas aquí en Cicero”, compartió Rosenfeld.

También mencionó que “todo sucedió a una velocidad realmente rápida y ya estamos viendo que los residentes están recibiendo cheques por correo”.
