Town of Cicero Fire Department issues Commendations
Cicero Fire Trucks lined up outside Town Hall during the September 12, 2023 board meeting as the Town and Fire Department officials presented commendations from the Cicero Fire Department Chief Jeff Penzkofer to eight firefighters and paramedics.
“Saving lives is not a cliché around here it actually happens more than most people are aware of,” said Chief Penzkofer.
Chief Penzkofer gave the firefighters/paramedics present a great shout out.
“Just so everyone is aware this is the shift that worked the flood. They were the ones who worked that whole day,” stated Chief Penzkofer.
During the commendation Chief Penzkofer explained his department saves lives every day, that is their job.
“On this particular day there was two lives that were saved on two separate insistences. Normally we wouldn’t be here right now but after it had happened one of the paramedics came into my office and wanted to let me know that the fireman that helped out the paramedic, for man power reasons obviously, on these calls he wanted to acknowledge it. One thing led to another and we said why don’t we remind everybody what these guys do,” said Chief Penzkofer.
“The significance of this was it happened back to back with not that much down time it was the same crews,” said Cicero Fire Department Assistant Chief Steve Schwar.
Shortly after, Chief Penzkofer named all the firefighters/paramedics one by one to receive their commendation certificate.

El Departamento de Bomberos de la Ciudad de Cicero otorga elogios
Los camiones de bomberos de Cicero se alinearon afuera del Ayuntamiento durante la reunión de la junta del 12 de septiembre de 2023. Nuestro propio Departamento de Bomberos recibió elogios del Jefe del Departamento de Bomberos de Cicero, Jeff Penzkofer.
“Salvar vidas no es un cliché por aquí, en realidad sucede más de lo que la mayoría de las personas son conscientes”, dijo el Jefe Penzkofer.
El Jefe Penzkofer elogió grandemente a los bomberos/paramédicos presentes.
“Solo para que todos estén conscientes, esta es la guardia que trabajó durante la inundación. Ellos fueron los que trabajaron todo el día”, declaró el Jefe Penzkofer.
Durante la condecoración, el Jefe Penzkofer explicó que su departamento salva vidas todos los días, ese es su trabajo.
“En este día en particular, se salvaron dos vidas en dos incidentes separados. Normalmente no estaríamos aquí en este momento, pero después de que ocurrió, uno de los paramédicos vino a mi oficina y quiso informarme que el bombero que ayudó al paramédico, por razones de mano de obra obviamente, en estas llamadas, quería reconocerlo. Una cosa llevó a la otra y dijimos, ¿por qué no recordamos a todos lo que hacen estos chicos?”, dijo el Jefe Penzkofer.
“La importancia de esto fue que sucedió uno detrás del otro sin mucho tiempo de descanso, fueron las mismas tripulaciones”, dijo el Subjefe del Departamento de Bomberos de Cicero, Steve Schwar.
Poco después, el Jefe Penzkofer nombró uno por uno a los bomberos/paramédicos para recibir su certificado de elogio.
