Senior Mother’s Day celebration celebrated with music, food and dancing
Several hundred seniors enjoyed a special Mother’s Day celebration hosted on Wednesday, May 8, 2024 by Town President Larry Dominick, the Town of Cicero Board of Trustees and the Cicero Senior Center at the Cicero Community Center.
The event featured music, dancing, a breakfast buffet, and special gifts and services for the Senior Moms. The Town provided each Senior Mom with a special gift to remember the occasion, and received special pampering from sponsors including nail and hair services.
Senior Director Diana Dominick welcomed everyone at the start of the annual celebration.
“Thank you for coming to our special Mother’s Day celebration. I want to thank everyone who made this event possible, who truly care for the seniors in our community,” Mrs. Dominick said.
Mrs. Dominick expressed gratitude to all of the sponsors, to the Town officials, and to her staff including Princess Tejeda and Isabella Aguilar who helped coordinate the event and volunteers to make the event “a great success.”
Mrs. Dominick thanked President Larry Dominick and all of the members of the Cicero Board of Trustees “for their unwavering support for the Senior Center’s events and activities.”
Many officials attended and praised the event, celebrating with the seniors.
Assessor Emilio “Emo” Cundari said, “I want to wish a Happy Mother’s Day to all of our seniors who are here today at the Cicero Community Center. I ask that everyone take some time this weekend to recognize the mothers of Cicero and all of the hard work that they do for their families and for our community and we want to wish them great success and good health for their families.”
Clerk Maria Maria Punzo-Arias, who enjoyed dancing to the music during the event, wished all of the mom’s in the Town of Cicero and the Senior Center “a Happy Mother’s Day.
Mrs. Punzo-Arias said, “This is another great event brought to you by Town President Larry Dominick and organized by Diana Dominick and her amazing team. It is one of the many events that are held throughout the year. What a great way to celebrate Mother’s Day with great friends, wonderful music and great dancing. Today’s event was pretty much full and it is great to see people taking advantage of this and enjoy great events like this.”
The Senior Mother’s Day celebration was co-sponsored by several local groups and businesses including School District 99 and School District 201, and Cicero businesses including State Farm Insurance, How to Fade Hair Barber School, El Campeon Pina Colada, the Bell Mar Beauty College and the Capelli Beauty School.
“We are grateful for all the support that we received from the community and businesses to celebrate our senior moms,” Mrs. Dominick said.

La celebración especial del Día de las Madres para los adultos mayores se llevó a cabo con música, comida y baile.
Varios cientos de adultos mayores disfrutaron de una celebración especial del Día de las Madres organizada el miércoles 8 de mayo de 2024 por el Presidente Municipal Larry Dominick, la Junta de Síndicos del Municipio de Cicero y el Centro de Personas Mayores de Cicero en el Centro Comunitario de Cicero.
El evento incluyó música, baile, un desayuno buffet y regalos especiales y servicios para las Mamás Mayores. El Municipio brindó a cada Mamá Mayor un regalo especial para recordar la ocasión, y recibieron un trato especial de patrocinadores que incluían servicios de uñas y peluquería.
La Directora de Personas Mayores, Diana Dominick, dio la bienvenida a todos al inicio de la celebración anual.
“Gracias por venir a nuestra celebración especial del Día de las Madres. Quiero agradecer a todos los que hicieron posible este evento, que realmente se preocupan por los adultos mayores de nuestra comunidad”, dijo la Sra. Dominick.
La Sra. Dominick expresó su gratitud a todos los patrocinadores, a los funcionarios del Municipio y a su personal, incluidas Princess Tejeda e Isabella Aguilar, quienes ayudaron a coordinar el evento y a los voluntarios para hacer del evento “un gran éxito”.
La Sra. Dominick agradeció al Presidente Larry Dominick y a todos los miembros de la Junta de Síndicos “por su apoyo inquebrantable a los eventos y actividades del centro para adultos mayores”.

La Secretaria Maria Maria Punzo-Arias, quien disfrutó bailando con la música durante el evento, deseó un feliz Día de las Madres a todas las mamás del Municipio de Cicero y del Centro de Personas Mayores.

La celebración del Día de las Madres para adultos mayores fue patrocinada conjuntamente por varios grupos y empresas locales, incluidos el Distrito Escolar 99 y el Distrito Escolar 201, y empresas de Cicero, como State Farm Insurance, How to Fade Hair Barber School, El Campeón Piña Colada, la Escuela de Belleza Bell Mar y la Escuela de Belleza Capelli.
