Cicero celebrates Puerto Rican Independence and Flag Day at commemoration event

Town President Larry Dominick hosted a celebration of Puerto Rican Independence and Flag Day at the Cicero Community Center on Wednesday June 21, 2023.

Speakers included Ismael Vargas who spoke about the history of Puerto Rico and its alliance with the United States as one of our important territories, and former Assessor John Kociolko spoke about the history of the American Flag noting that the 49 Star flag is one of the rarest.

Also joining the town were Clerk Maria Punzo-Arias and Assessor Emilio Cundari and Trustees Victor Garcia, John Cava and Bob Porod who welcomed residents to celebrate the two combined events.

Anthony Grazzini, Grant Administrator at District 99 Schools, served as the event emcee.
