Town of Cicero hosts its annual National Day of Prayer
The Town of Cicero held its annual Prayer Day Monday, July 31, 2023 at 6pm. The unpredictable weather was the main reason the Prayer was moved indoors this year. The Prayer took place at Morton College in the auditorium. Everyone was invited for a night of praying.
“A community united as one,” said Town Chaplain Ismael Vargas. “It is an honor as the Town Chaplain to bring together the community,” added Chaplain Vargas.
Chaplain Vargas Thanked God for bringing everyone together.
The night was dedicated to praying for First Responders, Schools, Families, Communities in our Country, children and youth and the Government.
“The prayer we make today will make an imprint in our community because that is what God wants,” said Chaplain Vargas. He also thanked President Larry Dominick and the Board of Trustees.
The night was filled with charming music played by Sergio Huanango who is a musician that plays for New Life. Joann Montes was the Worship Leader and is the Director of the Band Expresion de Gloria.
Montes sang in Spanish and English – “There is no one like you, Our God is greater, our God is Stronger”.
The audience held their hands and arms in the air and clapped in joy.
Pastor Cesar Bautista took the stage to pray for our First Responders.
“Father God I just pray over their lives. I pray Father that as they put on their uniform and they put their vest their worry is always coming back home. Even now Father as a community as the Town of Cicero gathers together and we bestow our prayer over their lives. God, I pray for your hand of protection over them,” prayed Pastor Cesar Bautista.
During the prayer the Cicero Fire Department left because they received a call they needed to respond to.
The next prayer was focused on schools. The first day of school for District 99 is August 22nd.
“The Bible says that when we pray, God bends down. He gets to our level and he says talk to me. I love that picture of God,” said Pastor Juan Sanchez from New Life in Little Village.
“We lift up our schools to you Father you know the great need in our school system, Lord, you know the challenges, Lord, that our students are facing day in and day out. God, not only in school, but at home. Lord God, we pray for a covering protection over them, Lord God. And this coming school year, Father God. We pray that you would open their minds, God, that you would open their hearts,” said Pastor Sanchez.
“Give them funding Jesus. Open up wells of revenue Father God so that they could do the work that they know they need to do Lord God,” added Pastor Sanchez.
The next prayer focused on Families.
“I am going to ask you to unite in a symbolic way, I am going to ask you to raise your hands to direct our prayers to the entire Town of Cicero Father, in the name of Jesus we present ourselves in this place together, Lord, in your name, to ask, Lord, for the families of this Town Lord in the name of Jesus we ask you Lord to be your Lord bringing unity. Lord bringing harmony Lord bringing comfort to those families who are having a difficult time in Jesus name,” prayed Pastor Oscar Gustavo Rosales.
The next prayer focused on the communities in our nation.
“There is one above all,” said Pastor Israel Hernandez which was followed by tremendous clapping from the audience.
“Will you help us, Father, to be ambassadors in our communities? Will you help our leaders, Father, to find You through your people, the church, Father, We know you can,” said Pastor Israel Hernandez.
The next prayer was for the Church. Chaplain Vargas clarified by Church he means the body of Christ not the building.
“We are the Church,” said Chaplain Vargas.
Pastor Sergio Nava asked the audience to please give a five high to the person to your left and to your right and tell them: “I’m so glad you’re here”.
Everyone was happy to comply with his request.
“‘Cause we truly are happy that we’re all together and we’re here to pray. It’s no small task, but we have to pray for the Church, right?” Asked Pastor Nava.
“If you can lift your hands, do it. But I want you to get down with Jesus and pray that his Holy Spirit may descend upon every church. Father in Jesus name, we pray tonight we thank you for every single Church,” said Pastor Nava out loud.
The next prayer was focused on our children and youth.
Chaplain Vargas informed us about an information table right outside the auditorium about fostering children.
“Open your home for those children who do not have a home. That could be your ministry right there,” said Chaplain Vargas.
“We just ask you today, Father, as one nation, as one body, as one city, father God, we ask you, father God, in the name of Jesus Lord, provide for these young men, father God, for these young kids that have come to the Promised Land Father and find themselves in the same situation that they left from God,” said Pastor Al Hernandez.
The last prayer was focused on our government.
“Let’s pray everyday not once every single year. We pray for our government Father that they will become Father soft in their heart and they will recognize Father and they will Father seek for the goodness Father of your Father, community,” prayed Chaplain Vargas.
“The God of yesterday the God of Today and the God forever and ever,” sang sang Worship Leader and Band Director Montes.
“Thank you for giving us the opportunity to pray as one,” said Chaplain Vargas.
“Sing with me: How great is our God?” sang Worship Leader and Band Director Montes.
Everyone stood up clapping.
“What a beautiful name it is, the name of Jesus!” sang Worship Leader and Band Director Montes.
The audience raised their hands and arms signing along.
El Pueblo de Cicero celebró su Día Anual de Oración el lunes 31 de julio de 2023 a las 6 pm. El clima impredecible fue la principal razón por la que la oración se realizó en interiores este año. El evento tuvo lugar en el auditorio de Morton College. Todos fueron invitados para una noche de oración.
“Una comunidad unida como uno solo”, dijo el Capellán del Pueblo, Ismael Vargas. “Es un honor como Capellán del Pueblo reunir a la comunidad”, agregó el Capellán Vargas.
El Capellán Vargas agradeció a Dios por reunir a todos.
La noche estuvo dedicada a orar por los Primeros Respondientes, las Escuelas, las Familias, las Comunidades de nuestro País, los niños y jóvenes y el Gobierno.
“La oración que hacemos hoy dejará una huella en nuestra comunidad porque eso es lo que Dios quiere”, dijo el Capellán Vargas. También agradeció al Presidente Larry Dominick y a la Junta de Síndicos.
La noche estuvo llena de música encantadora interpretada por Sergio Huanango, un músico que toca para New Life. Joann Montes fue la Líder de Adoración y es la Directora de la Banda Expresión de Gloria.
Montes cantó en español e inglés: “No hay nadie como tú, Nuestro Dios es más grande, Nuestro Dios es más fuerte”.
El público levantó las manos y los brazos en el aire y aplaudió de alegría.
El Pastor Cesar Bautista subió al escenario para orar por nuestros Primeros Respondientes.
“Dios Padre, oro por sus vidas. Oro Padre para que cuando se pongan su uniforme y se pongan su chaleco, su preocupación siempre sea volver a casa. Incluso ahora, Padre, mientras la comunidad, el Pueblo de Cicero, se reúne y elevamos nuestras oraciones por sus vidas. Dios, oro por tu mano de protección sobre ellos”, oró el Pastor Cesar Bautista.
Durante la oración, el Departamento de Bomberos de Cicero se fue porque recibieron una llamada a la que necesitaban responder.
La siguiente oración se centró en las escuelas. El primer día de clases del Distrito 99 es el 22 de agosto.
“La Biblia dice que cuando oramos, Dios se inclina. Él se pone a nuestro nivel y nos dice que le hablemos. Me encanta esa imagen de Dios”, dijo el Pastor Juan Sánchez de New Life en Little Village.
“Le levantamos nuestras escuelas, Padre, conoces la gran necesidad en nuestro sistema escolar, Señor, conoces los desafíos, Señor, a los que nuestros estudiantes se enfrentan día tras día. Dios, no solo en la escuela, sino también en casa. Señor, oramos por cobertura y protección sobre ellos, Señor Dios. Y este próximo año escolar, Padre, oramos para que abras sus mentes, Dios, que abras sus corazones”, dijo el Pastor Sánchez.
“Dales fondos, Jesús. Abre pozos de ingresos, Padre Dios, para que puedan hacer el trabajo que saben que necesitan hacer, Señor Dios”, agregó el Pastor Sánchez.
La siguiente oración se centró en las Familias.
“Les voy a pedir que se unan de manera simbólica, les voy a pedir que levanten sus manos para dirigir nuestras oraciones a todo el Pueblo de Cicero. Padre, en el nombre de Jesús, nos presentamos aquí juntos, Señor, en tu nombre, para pedir, Señor, por las familias de este Pueblo, en el nombre de Jesús te pedimos, Señor, que seas tú Señor quien traiga unidad. Señor, que traiga armonía, Señor, que traiga consuelo a aquellas familias que están pasando por momentos difíciles, en el nombre de Jesús”, oró el Pastor Oscar Gustavo Rosales.
La siguiente oración se centró en las comunidades de nuestra nación.
“Existe uno por encima de todos”, dijo el Pastor Israel Hernández, lo que fue seguido por un tremendo aplauso del público.
“¿Nos ayudarás, Padre, a ser embajadores en nuestras comunidades? ¿Ayudarás a nuestros líderes, Padre, a encontrarte a través de tu pueblo, la iglesia, Padre? Sabemos que puedes hacerlo”, dijo el Pastor Israel Hernández.
La siguiente oración fue por la Iglesia. El Capellán Vargas aclaró que con Iglesia se refería al cuerpo de Cristo, no al edificio.
“Somos la Iglesia”, dijo el Capellán Vargas.
El Pastor Sergio Nava pidió a la audiencia que diera un alto cinco a la persona a su izquierda y a su derecha y les dijera: “Me alegra que estés aquí”.
Todos se complacieron en cumplir su solicitud.
“Porque realmente estamos felices de estar todos juntos y aquí para orar. No es una tarea pequeña, pero tenemos que orar por la Iglesia, ¿verdad?”, preguntó el Pastor Nava.
“Si pueden levantar sus manos, háganlo. Pero quiero que se conecten con Jesús y oren para que su Espíritu Santo descienda sobre cada iglesia. Padre, en el nombre de Jesús, oramos esta noche y te agradecemos por cada iglesia”, dijo el Pastor Nava en voz alta.
La siguiente oración se centró en nuestros niños y jóvenes.
El Capellán Vargas nos informó sobre una mesa de información justo afuera del auditorio sobre la crianza de niños.
“Abre tu hogar a esos niños que no tienen hogar. Ese podría ser tu ministerio justo allí”, dijo el Capellán Vargas.
“Te pedimos hoy, Padre, como una nación, como un cuerpo, como una ciudad, Padre Dios, te pedimos, Padre Dios, en el nombre de Jesús, que proveas para estos jóvenes, Padre Dios, para estos niños que han venido a la Tierra Prometida, Padre, y se encuentran en la misma situación de la que partieron, Dios”, dijo el Pastor Al Hernández.
La última oración se centró en nuestro gobierno.
“Oremos todos los días, no solo una vez al año. Oremos por nuestro gobierno, Padre, para que se vuelvan más sensibles en sus corazones y reconozcan y busquen el bienestar de tu comunidad, Padre”, oró el Capellán Vargas.
“El Dios de ayer, el Dios de hoy y el Dios para siempre y siempre”, cantó el Líder de Adoración y Director de la Banda Montes.
“Gracias por darnos la oportunidad de orar como uno solo”, dijo el Capellán Vargas.
“Canten conmigo: ¡Qué grande es nuestro Dios!”, cantó el Líder de Adoración y Director de la Banda Montes.
Todos se pusieron de pie aplaudiendo.
“¡Qué hermoso nombre es, el nombre de Jesús!”, cantó el Líder de Adoración y Director de la Banda Montes.
La audiencia levantó sus manos y brazos cantando junto.
El Día Anual de Oración concluyó con un inmenso “¡Amén!” dicho por todos los presentes.
