Town of Cicero honors First responders at luncheons
The Town of Cicero and the Cicero Clergy Committee hosted luncheons recently to honor members of the Cicero Police and the Cicero Fire Departments.
The luncheons, held separately for each, were organized by Town President Larry Dominick with the leadership of the Cicero Clergy Committee and Chaplain Ismael Vargas.
Luncheons were held for the Police Department on Wednesday Nov. 30 at their headquarters, and for the Fire Department on Dec. 6 at the Public Safety Office building on 34th Street.
“We have come to pray for all of our First Responders and show them that the community and the Town appreciate the sacrifices that they make to protect our citizens,” said Ismael Vargas who opened each of the luncheon events.
Town officials including President Larry Dominick, Clerk Maria Punzo-Arias, Supervisor Joe Virruso, Assessor Emilio Cundari, Collector Fran Reitz and Trustees Victor Garcia, Bob Porod, John Cava and Blanca Vargas all offered words of support for the Police and Fire department First Responders.
“We thank the members of the Police Department and the Fire Departments for what they do to protect us, save us and ensure that in emergencies, someone is there quickly to address their needs,” Dominick said.
“We have the finest police and fire departments in the country.”
Police Chief Thomas Boyle and Fire Chief Jeff Penzkofer attended the luncheons expressing their gratitude to the attendees and officials.
“On behalf of all of the residents and the officials in Cicero, we are very proud of our Cicero Fire Department and our Firefighters, paramedics and all First Responders,” said Cundari.
“They put their lives on the line every day to protect and save our residents from fires all the time. And, they respond quickly and professionally to emergency calls and they do save lives. We are proud of the work they do.”

Cicero honra a sus policías y bomberos con deliciosos almuerzos
El municipio de Cícero y el ‘Comité de Clérigos de Cicero’ organizaron sabrosos almuerzos recientemente para honrar a los miembros de la Policía y del departamento de Bomberos de Cicero.
Los almuerzos, realizados por separado para cada uno de estos departamentos, fueron organizados por el Presidente municipal Larry Dominick, con el liderazgo del ‘Comité de Clérigos de Cicero’ y del capellán Ismael Vargas.
Para el Departamento de Policía, el festín fue el miércoles 30 de noviembre en su sede central y para el Departamento de Bomberos la comida se llevó a cabo el 6 de diciembre, en el edificio de la ‘Oficina de Seguridad Pública’ en la calle 34.
“Hemos venido a orar por todos nuestros oficiales y socorristas para mostrarles que la comunidad y el municipio aprecian los sacrificios que hacen para proteger a nuestros ciudadanos”, dijo Ismael Vargas, quien inició cada uno de los almuerzos con palabras de agradecimiento.
El Comité del Clero de Cicero organiza un almuerzo para honrar al Departamento de Policía el 30 de noviembre del 2022.
Los funcionarios municipales, incluidos el Presidente Larry Dominick, la Secretaria María Punzo-Arias, el Supervisor Joe Virruso, el Asesor Emilio Cundari, la Recaudadora Fran Reitz y los Síndicos Víctor García, Bob Porod, John Cava y Blanca Vargas ofrecieron también sus palabras de apoyo a los miembros de los departamentos de policía y de bomberos.
“Agradecemos a los miembros del Departamento de Policía y del Cuerpo de Bomberos por lo que hacen para protegernos, para mantener la seguridad y para garantizar en todo momento que, en caso de alguna emergencia, alguien esté allí rápidamente para atender las necesidades”, dijo el Presidente Dominick.
“Tenemos los mejores departamentos de policía y de bomberos del país”, agregó el mandatario municipal.
Tanto el jefe de Policía Thomas Boyle como el jefe del Cuerpo de Bomberos Jeff Penzkofer asistieron a los almuerzos y expresaron su agradecimiento a los asistentes y funcionarios.
“En nombre de todos los residentes y funcionarios de Cicero, quiero decir que estamos muy orgullosos de todos los miembros de nuestro eficiente Departamento de Bomberos, sean bomberos, paramédicos y socorristas, ellos son los primeros en responder”, dijo Cundari.
“Arriesgan sus vidas todos los días para proteger y salvar a nuestros residentes de los incendios todo el tiempo. Responden rápida y profesionalmente a las llamadas de emergencia y salvan vidas. Estamos muy orgullosos del trabajo que hacen”.
