Morton 201 Foundation honors Town of Cicero for scholarship support

The Morton 201 Foundation, which awards scholarships to students at Morton High School District 201, presented Town President Larry Dominick with an award on Tuesday, June 11, 2024 for his and the Board’s support of their mission to help students pursue higher educational goals.

Since 2019, the Morton Foundation has awarded 57 scholarships totaling $100,000.

This year, the Morton 201 Foundation received 54 scholarship applications, the highest to date, and awarded 14 scholarships valued at $2,000 each to the winning recipients.

The scholarships were equally divided between Morton East and Morton West students, including one culinary student from each school, said Morton High School Board Secretary and Foundation President Jessica Jaramillo-Flores.

Dominick was presented with the Morton 201 Foundation’s annual “Pay It Forward” award which recognizes individuals, organizations and businesses who have supported and contributed to the promotion and advancement of the morton 201 Foundation’s Mission.

“Today, we want to recognize one of our oldest and longest supporters, the Town of Cicero,” Jaramillo-Flores said in addressing the Town of Cicero Board.

“Since 2018, the Town of Cicero has repeatedly purchased tables at our Dinner and Theater Nights and has been a corporate sponsor ffor all four of our Support Local Online Auctions. It has also helped to promote the Foundation by posting information about our events in their building, on their website and through their social media pages.”

Jaramillo-Flores added, “The Town of CIcero truly believes in the Foundation’s mission and efforts and has been a tremendous partner for us from the beginning. For these reasons, the Town of Cicero has been selected as the 2024 Pay It Forward award recipient.”

On behalf of the board, President Dominick accepted the award and thanked Morton High School District 201 and the Morton 201 Foundation for all that they do to help students pursue their life career goals.

“Morton High school and the Foundation dedicate themselves to helping every student. They are very effective. Their students are our future leaders and we are honored to support them,” President Larry Dominick said.

“One of my personal goals has always been to try to help our students achieve their dreams and their goals. Morton High School District 201 and th eMorton 201 Foundation are instrumental in making that happen.”

La Fundación Morton 201 honra al Municipio de Cicero por su apoyo a las becas

La Fundación Morton 201, que otorga becas a los estudiantes del Distrito Escolar de Morton High School 201, presentó un premio al Presidente Municipal Larry Dominick el martes 11 de junio de 2024 por su apoyo a su misión de ayudar a los estudiantes a alcanzar metas educativas superiores.

Desde 2019, la Fundación Morton ha otorgado 57 becas por un total de $100,000.

Este año, la Fundación Morton 201 recibió 54 solicitudes de becas, la cifra más alta hasta la fecha, y otorgó 14 becas valoradas en $2,000 cada una a los beneficiarios ganadores.

“Desde 2018, el Municipio de Cicero ha comprado repetidamente mesas en nuestras Noches de Cena y Teatro y ha sido un patrocinador corporativo en nuestras cuatro Subastas Locales en Línea. También ha ayudado a promover la Fundación publicando información sobre nuestros eventos en su edificio, en su sitio web y a través de sus páginas de redes sociales.”

Jaramillo-Flores agregó: “El Municipio de Cicero realmente cree en la misión y esfuerzos de la Fundación y ha sido un socio tremendo para nosotros desde el principio. Por estas razones, el Municipio de Cicero ha sido seleccionado como el destinatario del premio Pay It Forward 2024.”

En nombre de la junta, el Presidente Dominick aceptó el premio y agradeció al Distrito Escolar de Morton High School 201 y a la Fundación Morton 201 por todo lo que hacen para ayudar a los estudiantes a alcanzar sus metas profesionales.

“Morton High School y la Fundación se dedican a ayudar a cada estudiante. Son muy efectivos. Sus estudiantes son nuestros futuros líderes y estamos honrados de apoyarlos,” dijo el Presidente Larry Dominick.

“Uno de mis objetivos personales siempre ha sido tratar de ayudar a nuestros estudiantes a lograr sus sueños y sus metas. El Distrito Escolar de Morton High School 201 y la Fundación Morton 201 son fundamentales para que eso suceda.”
