Dear Cicero residents,
It’s springtime in Cicero. Of course, that means we still have a chance of snow to go along with the severe weather (that we saw at the end of February), but it also means we can start looking forward to heading outside. In the meantime, though, we have plenty in store for March, no matter what the weather will bring, so let’s jump straight into it.
Every year, we have an election in Cicero. This year’s election is in line with the presidential election this fall, which traditionally draws in more coverage, but there are a lot of down-ballot races for people to cast votes for come March 19. Early voting starts March 4, Pulaski Day, and runs for two weeks. I cannot stress the importance of sharing your voice through the election, even if the presidential nominees have already been decided. Your vote matters!

We also have Easter on March 31, one of the earlier dates to celebrate the Christian holiday. With Easter running so early, the town’s Easter celebration is also earlier than normal. On March 23, the Cicero Youth Commission and Department of Special Events will host the Community Center’s annual event, featuring a visit by the Easter Bunny, arts and crafts, and great fun.
Typically, this would be held outdoors, but the weather and logistics make moving it into the center easier. The fun starts at noon, and the line begins even earlier. Be aware that this event is for Cicero residents only to ensure as many Cicero children can enjoy the Easter celebration as possible.
+++++
And it wouldn’t be spring if we didn’t discuss the annual Hearts and Shamrocks Dinner Dance on March 20. This lively event has been popular for Senior residents for many years, and this year’s celebration should be no different. There will be a tasty meal, fun activities, and dancing, so RSVP before the event fills up!
+++++
It would not be spring without talking about Spring Training. The Cubs were so close to the playoffs last year, and critical moves this year have given the Chicago Faithful hope for better results, especially with Cody Bellinger signing just after Spring Training started. The season begins on April 1, and I cannot wait to see how it all plays out!
Sincerely,
Larry Dominick
Cicero Town President
