Hispanic Senior Club celebrates Valentine’s Day at Community Center
Seniors gathered together on Tuesday February 14 at the Cicero Community Center to enjoy a luncheon, Bingo and friendship at an event celebrating Valentine’s Day.
The Seniors enjoyed discussions and conversation and a great meal as they participated in events there.
The event was organized by the Cicero Hispanic Senior Club which meets twice each week at the community center said Cicero Trustee Victor Garcia who joined the group.
“The Hispanic Senior Club used to meet at the Park District but then relocated to the Community Center once the new center was built after Larry Dominick was elected Town President,” Garcia said.
“President Dominick and the board of trustees have a strong commitment to the senior community in Cicero, supporting the Senior Club and also building the Cicero Senior Center headed by Diana Dominick who also does so much for the senior community. The Hispanic Senior Club meets there every week. The Hispanic Seniors Club hosts bingo and other games and discuss their volunteer efforts.”
They celebrate birthdays each month and also participate in the Town festivals, Garcia said.
“It is one of the biggest clubs in town and there were more than 100 seniors at the event. They are all very active.”
El ‘Club de Adultos Mayores Hispanos de Cicero’ celebra el Día de San Valentín en el Centro Comunitario
Los adultos mayores de origen hispano, se reunieron el martes 14 de febrero en el ‘Centro Comunitario de Cicero’ para disfrutar de un delicioso almuerzo y de un divertido juego de bingo unidos por la amistad, en el tradicional evento que celebra el ‘Día de San Valentín’.
Los asistentes pudieron gozar de entretenidas conversaciones y de sabrosos platillos mientras participaban en los eventos.
Las actividades fueron organizadas por el ‘Cicero Hispanic Senior Club’ o sea el ‘Club de Adultos Mayores Hispanos’, que se reúne dos veces por semana en el Centro Comunitario, según dijo el Síndico de Cicero Víctor García, quien gustosamente se unió al grupo.
“Este club solía reunirse en el Distrito de Parques, pero luego el club se trasladó al Centro Comunitario una vez que se construyó esta nueva casa communal. Esto ocurrió después que Larry Dominick fuera electo Presidente municipal”, dijo el Síndico García.
“Y es que tanto el Presidente Dominick como la Junta de Síndicos tienen un fuerte compromiso con la comunidad de adultos mayores en Cicero, apoyando al club y fortaleciendo a diario las actividades del ‘Centro para Adultos Mayores’/‘Cicero Senior Center’ dirigido por Diana Dominick, quien también hace mucho por la comunidad de adultos mayores,” agregó con orgullo el funcionario.
“El ‘Club de Adultos Mayores Hispanos’ se reúne todas las semanas para organizar juegos de bingo entre muchos otros juegos. También se reúne para hablar sobre sus esfuerzos para hacer más trabajo voluntario en la comunidad”.
“Celebran cumpleaños cada mes y también participan con gusto en todas las fiestas organizadas por el municipio. Es uno de los clubes más grandes de la ciudad y en este evento en particular hubo más de 100 adultos mayores. Todos son muy activos”, finalizó diciendo el Síndico García
