Father’s Day celebrated at the Cicero Senior Center June 14

President Larry Dominick and his wife, Diana Dominick hosted a special Fathers of Cicero Day celebrated for Seniors on Wednesday June 14.

More than 300 seniors attended the event which featured food, dancing and entertainment. The celebration began at 10am on at the Cicero Community Center, 2250 S. 49th Avenue.

Cicero Senior Center Director Diana Dominick said that the Father’s Dance luncheon and dance is popular and recognizes the efforts that husbands and fathers put into supporting their families.

“A father is the provider, the protector, the savior, the creator, and everything you can think of. Many of our fathers were grandfathers who did so much for their families and their children and their grandchildren and we are excited to celebrate their special day,” Mrs. Dominick said.

“Everyone enjoyed themselves and it was a great time to thank fathers for all that they do.”

Former Town Assessor John Kociolko offered a prayer of invocation.

“We ask you blessings upon all of our fathers, our grandfathers, and great-grandfathers, our godfathers and uncles, brothers, all those men who have been a part of our lives. Most especially for our dads who did so much for us throughout our lives,” said Kociolko.

Attendees enjoyed could our famous “virgin Piña Colada” offered by our local vendor El Campeon restaurant which is located on 35th street.

Mrs. Dominick and her staff gave each father who attended the event a Town of Cicero Baseball Cap which they all donned posing for an amazing group picture.

Volunteers from Elementary School District 99 and Morton High School District 201 assisted by volunteering to serve as the wait staff serving the luncheon to all the attendees.
