Cicero Health Department hosts the annual Healthy Hearts program
Valentine’s Day was celebrated in Cicero in a big way this year. The Cicero Health Department held its Annual Healthy Heart event o Feb. 14, 2024!
Every year residents are invited to check in and receive free health screenings. The goal is to promote a healthier lifestyle. During the event, Cicero residents had the chance to do yoga, get a little make-over and even get their blood drawn.
Dr. Katherine Skurski, Medical Director of the Cicero Health Department, spoke with us about how important it is to take care of yourself. Making it one of the biggest reasons why the Cicero Health Department holds these events.
Town Collector Fran Reitz shared with us that many times a lot of diseases are preventable with routine check-ups and how the Cicero Health Department is there for you for your medical needs.
Vanessa Parrish, Director of Health Management for the Cicero Health Department, explained how every year her team incorporates different aspects of living a healthy life. For example, this year the big addition was the incorporation of yoga instructors. The gym was transformed into a yoga studio for Cicero residents.
February is American Heart Month and what better way to celebrate our Hearts than by taking care of each other and ourselves. We want you to LOVE your heart!

El día de San Valentín se celebró a lo grande en Cicero este año. ¡El Departamento de Salud de Cicero celebró su evento anual Corazón Saludable! Cada año se invita a los residentes a registrarse y recibir exámenes de salud gratuitos. El objetivo es promover un estilo de vida más saludable.
Durante el evento, los residentes de Cicero tuvieron la oportunidad de hacer yoga, recibir un cambio de imagen e incluso sacarse sangre.
La Dra. Katherine Skurski, Directora Médica del Departamento de Salud de Cicero, habló con nosotros sobre lo importante que es cuidarse. Es una de las principales razones por las que el Departamento de Salud de Cicero realiza estos eventos.
La Recolectora Municipal Fran Reitz compartió con nosotros que muchas veces muchas enfermedades se pueden prevenir con chequeos de rutina y que el Departamento de Salud de Cicero está a su disposición para sus necesidades médicas.
Vanessa Parrish, Directora de Manejo de Salud del Departamento de Salud de Cicero, explicó cómo cada año su equipo incorpora diferentes aspectos de vivir una vida saludable. Por ejemplo, este año la gran incorporación fue la incorporación de instructores de yoga. El gimnasio se transformó en un estudio de yoga para los residentes de Cicero.
Febrero es el mes Americano del Corazón y qué mejor manera de celebrar nuestros Corazones que cuidándonos unos a otros y a nosotros mismos. ¡Queremos que AMES tu corazón!
