Lab tests and IEPA confirm water has no contaminants
A boil order issued Thursday for some parts of the Town of Cicero has been lifted, after independent testing of water samples confirmed it is free of contaminants.
Those findings were also confirmed on Saturday by the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency.
The water main break, caused by a contractor performing work in the town, has been repaired and water in the town is again fully pressurized.
Still, before consuming water, the Town of Cicero advises all residents in the impacted area of 24th to Pershing, Lombard to just east of Cicero Ave. to:
- Run faucets for 5 minutes
- Flush ice makers by making 3 batches of ice and discard those cubes.
- Drain your hot water tank and refill it
- Run water through a regeneration cycle if you have a water softener
- Change the filter or backwash the system if you have a filter, sediment or reverse osmosis system
- Flush any water coolers that have direct water connections for 5 minutes
- Re-start and flush any water-using fixtures like dishwashers or washing machines
- Drain water-holding reservoirs if your large building has one

SE LEVANTA LA ORDEN DE HERVIR EL AGUA EN EL MUNICIPIO DE CICERO
Las pruebas de laboratorio y la IEPA confirman que el agua no presenta contaminantes
La orden de hervir el agua emitida el jueves para algunas áreas del Municipio de Cicero ha sido levantada, luego de que pruebas independientes realizadas a muestras de agua confirmaran que está libre de contaminantes.
Estos resultados también fueron confirmados este sábado por la Agencia de Protección Ambiental de Illinois (IEPA, por sus siglas en inglés).
La ruptura de la tubería principal de agua, ocasionada por un contratista que realizaba trabajos en el municipio, ya fue reparada y el sistema de agua de Cicero ha recuperado completamente la presión.
Sin embargo, antes de consumir el agua, el Municipio de Cicero recomienda a todos los residentes del área afectada —desde la calle 24 hasta la Pershing, entre la avenida Lombard y el área ubicada justo al este de la avenida Cicero— que realicen lo siguiente:
– Abra todos los grifos y deje correr el agua durante 5 minutos.
– Vacíe las máquinas para hacer hielo preparando 3 tandas de hielo y deseche esos cubos.
– Vacíe el tanque de agua caliente y vuelva a llenarlo.
– Si tiene un ablandador de agua, haga pasar el sistema por un ciclo completo de regeneración.
– Si cuenta con un sistema de filtración, sedimentos u ósmosis inversa, cambie el filtro o realice un retrolavado del sistema.
– Enjuague durante 5 minutos los enfriadores de agua que estén conectados directamente a la red de agua.
– Reinicie y deje correr agua en los equipos que utilizan agua, como lavavajillas o lavadoras.
– Si su edificio cuenta con un depósito o tanque de almacenamiento de agua, vacíelo por completo.
