The Town of Cicero celebrated the contributions of nearly 200 local students this summer with a special appreciation luncheon hosted by Town President Larry Dominick on Monday, August 11, at the Cicero Community Center.

The student workers—hired from District 99, District 201, and Morton College—spent their summer assisting in various town departments, gaining valuable work experience while supporting the community. President Dominick praised their dedication and hard work, noting the importance of providing young people with opportunities to learn, grow, and contribute.

“We’re proud to be able to give our local students hands-on experience in municipal work,” President Dominick said. “These jobs not only help them earn a paycheck, but they also build the skills they need for the future.”

Several town officials joined in recognizing the students’ efforts, including Town Clerk Maria Punzo Arias, Assessor Emo Cundari, Trustee Victor Garcia, Superintendent of Police Thomas Boyle, Superintendent of Streets and Alleys Derek Dominick, Water Commissioner Lido Manetti, Business License Director and Town Chaplain Ismael Vargas, and Deputy Superintendent Schullo.

The luncheon was organized by the Town’s Special Events Department, who made sure the event was both festive and heartfelt. Students enjoyed a meal together while receiving words of encouragement from local leaders who emphasized the value of education, hard work, and community service.

As the afternoon concluded, President Dominick reminded the students that Cicero will continue to support programs that provide young residents with opportunities to succeed. “We invest in our youth because they are the future of Cicero,” he said.

El Municipio de Cicero celebró las contribuciones de casi 200 estudiantes locales este verano con un almuerzo especial de agradecimiento, organizado por el Presidente Municipal Larry Dominick el lunes 11 de agosto en el Centro Comunitario de Cicero.

Los estudiantes — contratados de los Distritos 99, 201 y Morton College — pasaron el verano ayudando en varios departamentos municipales, obteniendo valiosa experiencia laboral mientras apoyaban a la comunidad. El Presidente Dominick elogió su dedicación y esfuerzo, destacando la importancia de brindar a los jóvenes oportunidades para aprender, crecer y contribuir.

“Estamos orgullosos de poder darles a nuestros estudiantes locales experiencia práctica en el trabajo municipal,” dijo el Presidente Dominick. “Estos empleos no solo les ayudan a ganar un sueldo, sino que también desarrollan las habilidades que necesitarán para el futuro.”

Varios funcionarios municipales se unieron para reconocer el esfuerzo de los estudiantes, incluyendo a la Secretaria Municipal Maria Punzo Arias, el Asesor Emo Cundari, el Síndico Victor Garcia, el Superintendente de Policía Thomas Boyle, el Superintendente de Calles y Callejones Derek Dominick, el Comisionado de Agua Lido Manetti, el Director de Licencias Comerciales y Capellán Municipal Ismael Vargas, y el Subsuperintendente Schullo.

El almuerzo fue organizado por el Departamento de Eventos Especiales del Municipio, quienes se aseguraron de que el evento fuera tanto festivo como emotivo. Los estudiantes disfrutaron de una comida juntos mientras recibían palabras de aliento de líderes locales que enfatizaron el valor de la educación, el trabajo duro y el servicio comunitario.

Al concluir la tarde, el Presidente Dominick recordó a los estudiantes que Cicero seguirá apoyando programas que ofrezcan oportunidades de éxito a los jóvenes residentes. “Invertimos en nuestra juventud porque son el futuro de Cicero,” dijo.
