A year after opening its doors, Supermercado Reynoso celebrated its first anniversary with Town President Larry Dominick, First Lady Diana Dominick, Town officials, family, friends, and community members, marking an important milestone for one of Cicero’s newest locally owned businesses.

The celebration recognized not only a successful first year in business, but also the dedication and entrepreneurial spirit of the Reynoso family, including owner Diego Reynoso, his wife Valeria Reynoso, and Diego’s father, José “Don Pepe” Reynoso, who have worked together to build a business centered around family, service, and community.

Business License Director Ismael Vargas welcomed guests and reflected on the market’s first year, noting that while the owners postponed a traditional grand opening, they chose instead to celebrate after successfully completing their first year of serving the community.

Vargas also recognized Supermercado Reynoso for stepping up during a time of uncertainty, when concerns surrounding immigration enforcement left many families hesitant to leave their homes.

“When our community needed help the most,  Supermercado Reynoso answered the call,” Vargas said. “They were the first supermarket in Cicero to begin delivering groceries directly to residents’ homes. They saw a need, took action, and demonstrated what it truly means to serve your community. That’s the kind of partnership we value in Cicero.”

Town President Larry Dominick congratulated the Reynoso family on their success and thanked them for putting the community first.

“Congratulations on your first anniversary. Your success is proof that when business owners invest in our community and put residents first, everyone benefits. During a difficult time for many families, you stepped forward to help without hesitation, and that speaks volumes about your character. Thank you for choosing Cicero, for believing in our community, and for making a real difference. We wish you continued success for many years to come,” said Town President Larry Dominick.

First Lady Diana Dominick presented the owners with a commemorative certificate on behalf of the Town of Cicero.

“Thank you for choosing our community to grow your business,” she said. “We wish you continued success, and it is my honor to present you with this certificate in recognition of your first anniversary.”

One of the celebration’s most inspiring moments came when Vargas introduced Diego and Valeria Reynoso, recognizing that despite their young age, they have already built a successful business while setting an example for other aspiring entrepreneurs.

“It is inspiring to see a new generation of entrepreneurs investing in our community and showing other young people that with hard work and determination, they can achieve their dreams as well,” Vargas said.

Following the ceremonial ribbon cutting, the Reynoso family expressed their gratitude to everyone who has supported them throughout their first year.

“It means everything to us,” said owner Valeria Reynoso. “My husband, Diego, is only 23 years old, but he has always dreamed of helping people. When families were afraid to leave their homes, he said, ‘Let’s help our people,’ and we organized grocery deliveries with volunteers throughout Cicero and neighboring communities. Seeing our community come together during that time is something we’ll never forget.”

Valeria explained that the idea of serving others has always been at the heart of their family business.

“We’re Mexican, and our parents are Mexican immigrants, so we understand what it means to come to this country, work hard, and face challenges,” she said. “We wanted to help however we could. Our goal has always been to make people feel welcomed and supported.”

She added that Supermercado Reynoso is committed to providing more than groceries.

“We’re here to help everyone. We offer fresh hot food every day, quality meats, fresh produce, catering services, and most importantly, we treat everyone like family. Building relationships with our customers is what makes this business so special.”

As the celebration concluded, Town officials thanked the many departments that work together to support local businesses, including the Business License Office, Health Department, Building Department, Fire Department, and other Town staff dedicated to helping businesses succeed.

Town of Cicero Clerk Maria Punzo Arias also congratulated the Reynoso family, saying, “we want to congratulate and thank the Reynoso family for choosing Cicero and for celebrating their first anniversary with us. Whenever they see someone in Cicero who needs help, they say, ‘Vamos a hacer entregas’ (‘Let’s make deliveries’). They don’t just think about their business, they think about serving the community. That has always been their policy.

More than just celebrating one successful year, the event highlighted the power of family, community partnerships, and the entrepreneurial spirit that continues to strengthen the Town of Cicero. As Supermercado Reynoso begins its second year, Diego, Valeria, and the entire Reynoso family remain committed to serving residents with the same dedication, compassion, and hometown pride that defined their very first day in business.

Supermercado Reynoso Celebra Un Año de Servicio al Municipio de Cicero

Un año después de abrir sus puertas, Supermercado Reynoso celebró su primer aniversario junto al Presidente Municipal Larry Dominick, la Primera Dama Diana Dominick, funcionarios municipales, familiares, amigos y miembros de la comunidad, marcando un importante logro para uno de los negocios locales más nuevos de Cicero.

La celebración reconoció no solamente un exitoso primer año de operaciones, sino también la dedicación y el espíritu emprendedor de la familia Reynoso, incluyendo al propietario Diego Reynoso, su esposa Valeria Reynoso y el padre de Diego, José “Don Pepe” Reynoso, quienes han trabajado juntos para construir un negocio basado en la familia, el servicio y la comunidad.

El Director de Licencias Comerciales, Ismael Vargas, dio la bienvenida a los invitados y destacó el primer año del supermercado, señalando que aunque los propietarios decidieron posponer una inauguración tradicional, eligieron celebrar después de completar exitosamente su primer año sirviendo a la comunidad.

Vargas también reconoció a Supermercado Reynoso por haber respondido durante un momento de incertidumbre, cuando las preocupaciones relacionadas con actividades de inmigración hicieron que muchas familias dudaran en salir de sus hogares.

“Cuando nuestra comunidad más necesitaba ayuda, Supermercado Reynoso respondió al llamado,” dijo Vargas. “Fueron el primer supermercado en Cicero en comenzar a entregar alimentos directamente a los hogares de los residentes. Vieron una necesidad, tomaron acción y demostraron lo que realmente significa servir a su comunidad. Ese es el tipo de colaboración que valoramos en Cicero.”

El Presidente Municipal Larry Dominick felicitó a la familia Reynoso por su éxito y les agradeció por poner a la comunidad en primer lugar.

“Felicidades por su primer aniversario. Su éxito demuestra que cuando los dueños de negocios invierten en nuestra comunidad y ponen a nuestros residentes primero, todos se benefician. Durante un momento difícil para muchas familias, ustedes dieron un paso al frente para ayudar sin dudarlo, y eso dice mucho de su carácter. Gracias por elegir a Cicero, por creer en nuestra comunidad y por hacer una verdadera diferencia. Les deseamos mucho éxito durante muchos años más,” dijo el Presidente Municipal Larry Dominick.

La Primera Dama Diana Dominick entregó a los propietarios un certificado conmemorativo en nombre del Municipio de Cicero.

“Gracias por elegir nuestra comunidad para hacer crecer su negocio,” expresó. “Les deseamos mucho éxito continuo y es un honor para mí entregarles este certificado en reconocimiento a su primer aniversario.”

Uno de los momentos más inspiradores de la celebración ocurrió cuando Vargas presentó a Diego y Valeria Reynoso, reconociendo que, a pesar de su corta edad, ya han construido un negocio exitoso mientras sirven como ejemplo para otros jóvenes emprendedores.

“Es inspirador ver a una nueva generación de empresarios invirtiendo en nuestra comunidad y demostrando a otros jóvenes que con trabajo duro y determinación pueden alcanzar sus sueños,” dijo Vargas.

Después del corte ceremonial de cinta, la familia Reynoso expresó su agradecimiento a todos quienes los han apoyado durante su primer año.

“Significa todo para nosotros,” dijo la propietaria Valeria Reynoso. “Mi esposo, Diego, tiene solamente 23 años, pero siempre ha tenido el sueño de ayudar a las personas. Cuando las familias tenían miedo de salir de sus hogares, él dijo: ‘Ayudemos a nuestra gente’, y organizamos entregas de alimentos con voluntarios por todo Cicero y las comunidades cercanas. Ver cómo nuestra comunidad se unió durante ese tiempo es algo que nunca olvidaremos.”

Valeria explicó que la idea de servir a los demás siempre ha sido parte del corazón de su negocio familiar.

“Somos mexicanos y nuestros padres son inmigrantes mexicanos, así que entendemos lo que significa venir a este país, trabajar duro y enfrentar desafíos. Queríamos ayudar de cualquier manera posible. Nuestro objetivo siempre ha sido hacer que las personas se sientan bienvenidas y apoyadas.”

Agregó que Supermercado Reynoso está comprometido con ofrecer mucho más que productos de supermercado.

La Secretaria Municipal de la Town of Cicero, Maria Punzo Arias, también felicitó a la familia Reynoso, diciendo: “Queremos felicitar y agradecer a la familia Reynoso por haber elegido a Cicero y por celebrar con nosotros su primer aniversario. Cada vez que ven a alguien en Cicero que necesita ayuda, dicen: ‘Vamos a hacer entregas’. No solo piensan en su negocio, también piensan en servir a la comunidad. Esa siempre ha sido su filosofía.

Al finalizar la celebración, funcionarios municipales agradecieron a los numerosos departamentos que trabajan juntos para apoyar a los negocios locales, incluyendo la Oficina de Licencias Comerciales, el Departamento de Salud, el Departamento de Construcción, el Departamento de Bomberos y otros empleados municipales dedicados a ayudar a que los negocios tengan éxito.

Más que celebrar un año exitoso, el evento destacó el poder de la familia, las alianzas comunitarias y el espíritu emprendedor que continúa fortaleciendo al Municipio de Cicero.
