Seniors Celebrate Fall With Annual Octoberfest Dinner/Dance

A part of a long-time autumn tradition, Cicero’s senior residents gathered together on Oct. 19 to celebrate the season with the annual Senior Octoberfest Dinner/Dance. Held every October after the Mexican Independence and Houby festivals, the midday event featured the popular German fare of bratwurst and sauerkraut as well as a live band, raffles and dancing, all at the Cicero Community Center. Town officials joined the hundreds of residents who were treated to the enjoyable afternoon. .

Cicero Town President Larry Dominick thanked Sue Banks, director of the Senior Center, as well as Ryan Chlada, head of the Senior Services department, and Rose Porod, executive director of the Community Center, for their hard work putting together the festival.

“Our senior events are some of my favorite to attend,” Dominick said. “It is great to see them get together and have a great time, catching up on each other’s lives and even talking about the Cubs this year. It’s just a great way to have fun and a wonderful thing for the town to do for our older residents.”
