Town of Cicero Senior & Disability Services are Helpful, Reliable & Always Free! The Town of Cicero proudly offers a range of FREE services for Seniors aged 62 and older, as well as Disabled Residents receiving Social Security and disability benefits. Our goal is to make daily life easier and more accessible because your comfort and independence matter.

Enjoy complimentary door-to-door bus service for medical appointments, doctor visits, and other essential needs. Bookings must be made at least 24 hours in advance. 

Transportation Service Hours are as follows: 

Monday - Friday: 8 am – 4 pm
Saturday & Sunday: 8 am – 3 pm

We assist with a variety of needs, including:

• Access to Medical Equipment
• Medical Transportation Coordination
• Help with Handicapped Parking Applications
• Guidance Through Social Security Processes
• Enrollment in The Senior Ride Free Transit Benefit
• Participation in The Persons with Disabilities Transit Discount Ride Program
• Help With Secretary of State License Plate Applications
• Support With Applications for The Illinois Disabled Person Identification Card

♦ SEASONAL MAINTENANCE - Please call our office to enroll in the Lawn Cutting & Snow Removal program. You must call to be put on the maintenance route.

• LAWN CUTTING - Eligible homeowners can benefit from our 26-week lawn cutting program, which runs from May through October. Under this program, lawns will be mowed once a week.
• SNOW REMOVAL - Complimentary snow removal is provided to eligible homeowners following an official snowfall of 3 inches or more.

♦ PUBLIC WORKS - Receive complimentary blue recycling bags, graffiti removal services, and personalized trash toters with your address from our Public Works department.

♦ RODENTS - We provide inspection and service for all exterior areas of Cicero homes. Upon request, glue boards are available at no cost. Additionally, we offer yard treatment and baiting services to help keep your property pest-free.

♦ SEWER RODDING SERVICES - We offer complimentary rodding services for sewers and catch basins to help maintain proper drainage and prevent backups.

♦ TOWING: CALL 708-477-4386. Complimentary lockout assistance is available in Cicero on an emergency basis. Please be prepared to verify your authorization to access the vehicle. Additionally, we offer free vehicle towing and jump-start services exclusively within Cicero.

♦ WATER BILL DISCOUNT - Eligible residents can benefit from reduced water rates through our water bill discount program.

♦ HANDYMAN PROGRAM (100% FREE) - Senior homeowners must live on the property to receive services. Services are not allowed on rental, investment, or commercial properties. No repairs to appliances (i.e., refrigerators, washers, dryers, stoves, microwaves, etc.)! For more information regarding these programs, please call (708) 656-3600.

• CARPENTRY - Our Services Include: Install grab bars (homeowner provides the bars). Repair or replace locks (homeowner provides the locks). Repair window or door screens (limit of 6 per year). Install handrails (homeowner provides the rails).
  
  
• GUTTERS - We offer seasonal gutter cleaning services to one-story homes and handle minor repairs for both gutters and downspouts!
  
  
• ELECTRICAL REPAIRS - Our Services Include: Repair or replacement of up to 2 outlets per order. Repair or replace wall switches. Change light bulbs (excluding fluorescent ballast). Install light fixtures (homeowner provides the fixture). Install doorbell buttons and chimes. Mount security doorbells. Repair garage door openers. Perform minor repairs on AC/heating units. Replace burned-out fuses/breakers. Note: Any electrical repairs involving old or distressed wires must be done by a licensed and bonded contractor!
  
  
• PAINTING (SEASONAL) - Our Services Include: Garage trim. Handrails. Window trim (first floor only). Note: Decorative or interior painting is not available!
  
  
• PLUMBING - Our Services Include: Repair leaks. Rod sinks, toilets, and tubs. Repair sink drains. Repair or replace faucets. Repair or replace toilets. Install or repair hot water tanks. Repair or install shut-off valves. Install supply lines to sinks and toilets. Replace P-traps. Note: Any plumbing repairs involving the replacement of sinks, pipes, or drain tiles must be done by a licensed and bonded contractor!
  
  
• WINDOWS - We offer installation and removal of window air conditioners, and provide seasonal exterior window cleaning services exclusively for the first floor!

• CARPET CLEANING (SEASONAL) - No area rugs. We will not move furniture.
  
  

♦ HOME REPAIR REIMBURSEMENT PROGRAM  - Call our office to inquire about our home repair reimbursement program. Eligible senior homeowners can obtain a reimbursement of up to $500 for pre-approved contractor-led home repairs. If a permit is necessary, a $50 reimbursement is available toward the cost of the permit. All home improvements under this program must receive prior approval.
