Pet Tag Applications Extended to February 1

With the pet tag deadline occurring during a time when congregating in large groups is unsafe, Town President Larry Dominick and the Board of Trustees decided to extend it. Now, pet owners can extend their pet tags renewals by Monday, February 1, 2021. 

Town Collector Fran Reitz said the extension also includes a change in the fees for pet tags. 

“We are pleased to announce that pet tags are now FREE to our residents as the Town of Cicero is a pet-friendly town,” Reitz said. She said the office will be mailing renewal applications in December.

If you need a new 2020/2021 pet tag application, you can access them on the website, pick one up at the Collector’s Office in Town Hall (4949 W Cermak Rd), or visit the Waggin’ Tails Animal Shelter (1800 S Laramie Ave). 

Residents can contact the Waggin’ Tails Animal Shelter at 708-652-0825 for information and requirements on dog park permits.

Renewing or obtaining a pet tag requires proof of a current rabies certificate. Once the town processes the application, the pet tags can be mailed to the residents conveniently. Also, transactions can be done through email or in person at Townhall or the Waggin’ Tails Animal Shelter.
