Morton College has expanded. After more than 30 years, the community college in Cicero added a new 15,000-square foot facility during a ribbon-cutting ceremony on August 18. The new facility includes five Learning Studios, an Allied Health classroom for the Early Childhood Education program, two Adult Education classrooms, plus spaces designated as student lounges or conference rooms.
Dr. Stan Fields, President of Morton College, welcomed the new addition during the ceremony with College Board Member Melissa Cundari speaking on behalf of the full board. Leaders from the communities inside Morton College district were on hand for the ceremony, including the mayors of Cicero, Berwyn, Forest View, Lyons, McCook and Stickney. State Rep. Lisa Hernandez and State Sen. Martin Sandoval also welcomed the new addition to the campus.
“This is an amazing facility and we are proud to see continued growth out of Morton College,” Town President Larry Dominick said. “It is a beautiful addition.”
The project lasted just under three years with the Friends of Morton Foundation helping to raise the funds necessary for the expansion. It’s opening comes just before the 2016-2017 academic year.
