Morton High School District 201 continues to add to its recent accolades by earning a financial award in integrity and reporting. The Association of School Business Officials International awarded the public school system with its Certificate of Excellence Award in Financial Reporting.
The ASBO bestowed the honor upon Morton 201 after the district cleared benchmarks in financial reporting and accountability, by providing accurate and detailed information regarding funding and usage, as well as maintaining its transparency in financial administration. This is the 21st year Morton 201 has participated in the program. Jeffry Pesek, president of Morton’s Board of Education, said he and the rest of the board are proud of the national recognition of its Comprehensive Annual Financial Report.
“The Board of Education and I are very proud of Morton for many reasons,” Pesek said. “The Certificate of Excellence Award demonstrates to the community that our school district is credible and dedicated to fiscal integrity and excellence.”
The COE award confirms the school business office’s commitment to financial accountability and transparency. Recognition through the COE program can help strengthen a district’s presentation for bond issuance statements and promotes a high level of financial reporting.
“While other school districts have experienced financial crises, Morton has managed to increase positive prospects with a balanced budget,” Pesek said.
