
Lulac joins Cicero officials to award Scholarships
Cicero Trustee Blanca Vargas was joined by members of the Town of Cicero Board in recognizing 20 students who received scholarships through the Chicago Chapter of LULAC, (The League of United Latin American Citizens) following the Cicero Board meeting on Tuesday August 9, 2022.
The guest of honor was Judge David Cerda at the gathering held in the Town Hall foyer and he was joined by Cicero President Larry Dominick, Cicero Clerk Maria Punzo-Arias, and Trustee Victor Garcia.
All of the students attend Morton High School East and West.
“On Tuesday, August, 9, Town Trustee and Lulac member Blanca Vargas in collaboration with several supporting donors including Town President Larry Dominick organization, were able to award small grants to qualified Hispanic students who are planning to enroll in accredited colleges or universities,” said Diana Dominick, Director of Senior Services.

“Some students received $1,000 scholarships and others received $750. We are very proud of the students and the donors who helped make the scholarships possible.”
Vargas thanked the officials saying, “Lulac’s National Educational Foundation (LNEF)was established in1973 in Washington DC to assist many young adults who seeking college education,” Vargas explained.
“Since 1994, Lulac of Cicero empowered 100’s of youth who pursue college bound. Thank you to the sponsors and donors including President Dominick & the Cicero Board of Trustees, Judge David Cerda, the Cicero Voters Alliance, La Chiquita Supermarket, Comcast, Cicero Cermak Produce, Martin Castro and many other local businesses and individuals who believe in our mission.”
