Dear Neighbors,
I wanted to take a few moments to wish everyone a very Happy Thanksgiving. This is a truly American holiday. Many of us probably remember the First Thanksgiving story between Pilgrims and Native Americans, but it wasn’t until the Civil War, when Abraham Lincoln proclaimed a day of “Thanksgiving and Praise to our beneficent Father who dwelleth in the Heavens.”
Since that day, we have taken time to give thanks for the many blessings we have been given. For myself, I want to thank everyone in the Town who has worked hard to provide quality programs and services for each and everyone who calls Cicero home. Many times these men and women work long hours to make make sure our children can visit with Santa Claus in December, that our seniors have memorable dinners at the Community Center throughout the year, and that our veterans and military personnel have someone to talk to when they return home from protecting this nation. From me and my family, thank you very much for what you do.
As the Thanksgiving weekend ends, the Christmas season will be starting. That’s why I want to also invite every one of you to our annual Christmas in the Park celebration. The festivities start at 4pm on Sunday, November 29, at the Cicero Community Park. We will light the Cicero Christmas Tree and kick off the ice skating season at the Bobby Hull Community Ice Rink. I really hope everyone can make it to this wonderful event.
Again, I wish you all a Happy Thanksgiving and I look forward to seeing you at Christmas in the Park or another holiday event this December!
Sincerely,
Larry Dominick,
Cicero Town President
