Father-Daughter Dance Still Strong Despite Weather Delay

Despite the week delay, Cicero’s 11th Annual Father-Daughter Dance featured a capacity crowd of dads and their girls enjoying a special night out at the Cicero Community Center. Because of the snowstorm that shut down most of Chicago on Feb. 9, the Cicero Youth Commission delayed the dance to Feb. 16, a first for the commission’s annual events.

“We felt it was safer for our residents to wait until after Valentine’s Day,” said Town President Larry Dominick. “A special night out needs to end on a happy note with an accident because of snow and ice.”

Each girl received a corsage as well as a special photo with their father. The event featured dinner, dancing music and plenty of entertainment to make the night memorable for both the parent and child. Dominick thanked the CYC and Cicero Community Center for acting fast in delaying the event and ensuring everyone still had a wonderful time the next week.
