Cicero residents came out to Cicero Community Center on April 13 for the annual Easter in the Park celebration. The festival, hosted by the Department of Parks and Recreations and the Cicero Youth Commission, shifted to the Community Center as temperatures started to drop and the threat of snow grew. That threat became a reality later that night and dumped nearly five inches of snow.
People still came out in high numbers to enjoy the train rides through Municipal Courtyard, the Easter Bunny sitting with hundreds of children in preparation for the springtime holiday, and plenty of outdoor and indoor activities to ensure a successful holiday event.
“This is the first outdoor activity every year and I am always happy to see so many kids excited to embrace the return of warmer temperatures,” said Town President Larry Dominick. “But even with the late Easter date, we couldn’t escape the snow. That doesn’t stop the fun from going on, though.”
Joining Dominick in celebrating Easter was Clerk Maria Punzo-Arias, Supervisor Joe Virruso, Collector Fran Reitz, Assessor Emilio “Emo” Cundari, and trustees Victor Garcia, Larry Banks, Bob Porod, and John Cava.
