If you are in need of immediate assistance from an Animal Welfare Officer, for example, if you find a stray animal in distress, encounter an aggressive or injured animal, or require help with an urgent animal-related situation, please call 708-606-8400. An officer will be sent to respond to your call.
Animal Welfare Officers are on Duty every day of the year, including all holidays, as follows:
Daily: 8 am - Midnight
Examples of situations when you should call:
You witness someone physically harming or neglecting an animal
An animal is left without food, water, or shelter
You observe an injured stray or domestic animal that needs help
You encounter an aggressive animal that poses a risk to people or other animals
You have serious concerns about the welfare or safety of an animal in your neighborhood
Your involvement can make a significant difference in protecting animals in our community. If you are unsure whether your concern qualifies as abuse or neglect, please call. Our staff will be glad to answer your questions and provide guidance.
