Halloween spirit filled the air at the Cicero Community Center on Thursday, October 29th at 5 p.m., where thousands of children and families came together for the Town’s annual Trick or Treat event — a night full of fun, laughter, and community pride.

Dressed in colorful costumes, kids lined up around the building and down the block, eager to fill their bags with candy and treats. Despite the massive turnout, the line moved quickly, ensuring every child had a chance to enjoy the celebration. Inside the gym, the atmosphere buzzed with excitement as town employees from every department joined in the fun, dressed in costumes of their own and handing out candy to smiling trick-or-treaters.

“This has been our most successful year yet!” said Director of Special Events Patty Sturdevant. “We have over 35 participants handing out candy this year, and the turnout has been incredible. We couldn’t do it without the support of President Larry Dominick and the Board of Trustees.”

The decision to host the event indoors came after discussions between President Dominick, the Board of Trustees, and event organizers. “The weather can be unpredictable,” Director Sturdevant explained, “and this way, the kids stay warm, they’re getting candy, and they’re still having fun.”

Families expressed their gratitude for the safe, family-friendly event. One parent shared, “It’s wonderful that parents can feel comfortable knowing their kids are having fun in a safe environment.”

Town employees weren’t the only ones helping make the night a success — the event also featured participation from District 99, District 201, and the Cicero Mexican Cultural Committee, who all joined in to help make the evening even more special for local families.

Children in costumes of all kinds — from dinosaurs and vampires to superheroes and princesses — filled the gym with laughter and excitement. “Seeing all these creative costumes and happy families is wonderful,” said one attendee. “It’s especially great for families who can’t go out tomorrow—it’s warm, safe, and fun inside.”

As the night came to an end, the sense of joy and community spirit was undeniable. From the teamwork of town staff to the thousands of happy families who attended, Cicero once again proved it knows how to celebrate together.

From candy and costumes to smiles and laughter, the Cicero Trick or Treat event was another shining example of how the Town of Cicero—under the leadership of Town President Larry Dominick—continues to create memorable, family-centered traditions that bring the community together.

La Tradicional Noche de Dulce o Travesura de Cicero Llena el Centro Comunitario de Magia y Diversión

El espíritu de Halloween se hizo presente en el Centro Comunitario de Cicero el jueves 29 de octubre a las 5 p.m., donde miles de niños y familias se reunieron para disfrutar del tradicional evento anual de Dulce o Travesura del Municipio — una noche llena de diversión, risas y orgullo comunitario.

Con coloridos disfraces, los niños formaron filas alrededor del edificio y hasta la siguiente cuadra, ansiosos por llenar sus bolsas con dulces y golosinas. A pesar de la gran asistencia, la fila avanzó rápidamente, asegurando que todos los niños pudieran disfrutar de la celebración. Dentro del gimnasio, el ambiente se llenó de emoción mientras empleados municipales de todos los departamentos se unieron a la diversión, también disfrazados y repartiendo dulces a los pequeños participantes.

“¡Este ha sido nuestro año más exitoso hasta ahora!”, expresó la Directora de Eventos Especiales, Patty Sturdevant. “Este año contamos con más de 35 participantes repartiendo dulces, y la participación ha sido increíble. No podríamos hacerlo sin el apoyo del Presidente Municipal Larry Dominick y la Junta Directiva.”

La decisión de realizar el evento bajo techo se tomó después de conversaciones entre el Presidente Dominick, la Junta de Síndicos y los organizadores del evento. “El clima puede ser impredecible”, explicó la Directora Sturdevant, “y de esta manera los niños se mantienen abrigados, reciben dulces y siguen divirtiéndose.”

Las familias expresaron su agradecimiento por ofrecer un evento familiar y seguro. Una madre comentó: “Es maravilloso que los padres puedan sentirse tranquilos sabiendo que sus hijos se están divirtiendo en un ambiente seguro.”

Los empleados municipales no fueron los únicos en contribuir al éxito de la noche — el evento también contó con la participación de los Distritos Escolares 99 y 201, así como del Comité Cultural Mexicano de Cicero, quienes se unieron para hacer que la velada fuera aún más especial para las familias locales.

Niños disfrazados de todo tipo — desde dinosaurios y vampiros hasta superhéroes y princesas — llenaron el gimnasio con risas y emoción. “Es increíble ver tantos disfraces creativos y familias felices”, comentó una asistente. “Es especialmente bonito para las familias que no pueden salir mañana — aquí está cálido, seguro y muy divertido.”

Al finalizar la noche, el espíritu de alegría y comunidad fue innegable. Gracias al trabajo en equipo del personal municipal y las miles de familias que asistieron, Cicero volvió a demostrar que sabe cómo celebrar juntos.

Entre dulces, disfraces, sonrisas y risas, el evento de Dulce o Travesura de Cicero fue otro gran ejemplo de cómo el Municipio de Cicero — bajo el liderazgo del Presidente Municipal Larry Dominick — continúa creando tradiciones memorables centradas en la familia que unen a toda la comunidad.
