Residents, local leaders, and faith communities gathered at the Cicero Community Center on Thursday, October 23rd, 2025 at 6:30pm for a heartfelt evening of prayer and reflection, coming together to share hope and unity during challenging times.

Town President Larry Dominick opened the event with words of compassion and encouragement, reminding residents of the importance of standing together.

“It’s a tough life out there today,” President Dominick said. “Maybe God can bring us all closer and help us live in harmony. There’s so much going on in this world that isn’t good, and we have to come together — because united you stand, divided you fall.”

The prayer vigil was led by Town Chaplain Ismael Vargas, who invited community members, clergy, and local organizations to pray for peace, justice, and strength. Vargas emphasized that the event was not a protest or press conference, but a moment of faith — a way for Cicero residents to unite in the face of uncertainty.

“We need to lean on God and recognize that in dark times, we can still find light,” Vargas said. “Our community is strongest when we pray, serve, and stand together.”

Participants joined in worship songs, held candles symbolizing hope, and prayed for healing within Cicero and beyond. The evening included moments of reflection, Scripture readings, and bilingual prayers in both English and Spanish.

Adding to the spirit of community, President Dominick provided free food from Joey’s Red Hots, with a food truck set up in the courtyard for everyone to enjoy. The gesture offered neighbors a chance to share a meal and connect following the evening of prayer.

Community organizations, police and fire departments, and local churches were all represented at the event, underscoring the town’s commitment to unity and compassion.

“We come together to grieve with those who grieve, to lift up those who are struggling, and to remind everyone that there is hope,” Vargas said.

As candles lit the evening sky, residents shared a collective message of faith and resilience — that in the face of hardship, Cicero remains a community united by compassion, prayer, and hope.

Cicero se une en oración por la esperanza y la sanación

Residentes, líderes locales y comunidades de fe se reunieron en el Centro Comunitario de Cicero el jueves 23 de octubre de 2025 a las 6:30 p.m. para una emotiva noche de oración y reflexión, uniéndose para compartir esperanza y unidad en tiempos difíciles.

El Presidente Municipal Larry Dominick dio inicio al evento con palabras de compasión y aliento, recordando a los residentes la importancia de mantenerse unidos.

“La vida es difícil hoy en día”, dijo el Presidente Dominick. “Tal vez Dios pueda acercarnos más y ayudarnos a vivir en armonía. Hay tantas cosas malas pasando en el mundo, y debemos unirnos — porque unidos permanecemos, divididos caemos.”

La vigilia de oración fue dirigida por el Capellán Municipal Ismael Vargas, quien invitó a los miembros de la comunidad, líderes religiosos y organizaciones locales a orar por la paz, la justicia y la fortaleza. Vargas destacó que el evento no era una protesta ni una conferencia de prensa, sino un momento de fe — una oportunidad para que los residentes de Cicero se unieran frente a la incertidumbre.

“Necesitamos apoyarnos en Dios y reconocer que en los tiempos oscuros, todavía podemos encontrar la luz,” dijo Vargas. “Nuestra comunidad es más fuerte cuando oramos, servimos y permanecemos unidos.”

Los participantes entonaron cantos de adoración, encendieron velas como símbolo de esperanza y oraron por la sanación de Cicero y del mundo entero. La velada incluyó momentos de reflexión, lecturas bíblicas y oraciones bilingües en inglés y español.

Sumándose al espíritu comunitario, el Presidente Dominick ofreció comida gratuita de Joey’s Red Hots, con un camión de comida instalado en el patio para que todos pudieran disfrutar. Este gesto brindó a los vecinos la oportunidad de compartir un alimento y convivir después de la noche de oración.

Organizaciones comunitarias, los departamentos de policía y bomberos, y diversas iglesias locales estuvieron presentes en el evento, reafirmando el compromiso del Municipio con la unidad y la compasión.

“Nos reunimos para llorar con los que lloran, para levantar a los que están luchando, y para recordar a todos que siempre hay esperanza,” expresó Vargas.

Mientras las velas iluminaban el cielo al anochecer, los residentes compartieron un mensaje colectivo de fe y fortaleza: que ante la adversidad, Cicero sigue siendo una comunidad unida por la compasión, la oración y la esperanza.
