Residents, church leaders, and local officials gathered in unity for Cicero’s Annual Community Prayer Day, a heartfelt event hosted by the Town of Cicero and Town President Larry Dominick. The evening was filled with powerful messages of hope, gratitude, and healing as dozens came together at the Cicero Community Center to lift their voices in prayer for the town, its leaders, and families.

The event, coordinated with support from Town Chaplain Ismael Vargas, brought together diverse faith groups to emphasize the strength of community through faith and collective prayer. Pastor Juan from New Life Community Church in Cicero reminded attendees of Psalm 133: “How wonderful and pleasant it is when brothers live together in harmony… for there the Lord commands His blessing.” He urged the community to continue seeking unity, not only in times of crisis but as a way of life.

President Larry Dominick shared a personal message of faith and encouragement, thanking residents for their continued prayers for the town. “There’s no one better than our good Lord,” Dominick said. “I believe in God, I trust in God, and I love God—and I know all of you do too. Thank you for praying for the people of Cicero.”

Senior Center Director Diana Dominick was also recognized for her support and involvement. Over the years, she has played a key role in organizing and promoting the event among local seniors and families. Her leadership helped ensure this year’s gathering was both inclusive and accessible to residents of all ages.

“Prayer Day unites our churches and our community in a powerful way, reminding us to be thankful for everything we have in our lives.,” Diana Dominick said. “Let’s carry this spirit of gratitude with us—not just today, but every day.”

During the event, prayers were offered for government leaders at all levels, including local officials. Drawing from 1 Timothy 2:1–2, the audience was asked to pray for wisdom, humility, and integrity among elected leaders so that “we may live peaceful and quiet lives in godliness and holiness.”
The program included heartfelt bilingual prayers, moments of silent reflection, and messages calling for healing across Cicero’s neighborhoods. “There’s something powerful about communal prayer,” said Chaplain Vargas. “When we gather as a community and put God at the center, it sends a message that we are one.”

The event concluded with a powerful collective prayer for the future of Cicero, asking for protection over first responders, members of the military, and young people across the community. Participants left the gathering reminded of their shared values and the importance of standing firm in faith, especially in challenging times.

“Let’s not forget,” Chaplain Vargas told the crowd, “this isn’t just a one-time event. Prayer should surround this community all year long.”

The Town of Cicero extends its deepest thanks to all who participated, including the police and fire departments, the Board of Trustees, and residents whose presence continues to make this tradition a meaningful cornerstone of civic life.
