On Thursday, November 20th, members of the Cicero Police Department were recognized among the region’s finest as Cook County Crime Stoppers honored several officers for their extraordinary bravery, professionalism, and dedication to public safety.
During the ceremony in Chicago, Tactical Officers Luis Martinez and Reynol Ramos received the Excellence in Law Enforcement Award, while Detectives Jesus Jimenez, George Rangel, and Jose Gomez were presented with the Life Saving Award.
These recognitions highlight acts of courage that underscore the daily risks officers take to protect our community:
In December 2024, during a dangerous situation where Officer Luis Duarte was shot in the line of duty, Officer Rey Ramos provided critical, life-saving aid under extreme pressure.
In May 2024, Detectives Jimenez, Rangel, and Gomez bravely confronted an armed offender inside a crowded Planet Fitness. A shot was fired during the struggle, and the detectives acted swiftly to detain the offender, preventing further harm. Officers Martinez and Ramos have also been previously honored with the Irma Ruiz Valor Award by the Hispanic Illinois State Law Enforcement Association (HISLEA), while Detectives Jimenez, Rangel, and Gomez received HISLEA’s Valor Award last year.
Town President Larry Dominick, who attended the ceremony, expressed deep pride in the officers’ achievements and their unwavering commitment to Cicero. “Our officers run toward danger when others run away,” President Dominick said. “Their courage, skill, and dedication reflect the very best of what policing should be. Cicero is safer because of them, and tonight’s awards are a reminder of the extraordinary service they provide every single day.”
The Town of Cicero is grateful for these men and women who serve with integrity and heart. Their heroic actions not only saved lives but also demonstrated the strength, professionalism, and unity of the Cicero Police Department.
Oficiales de Cicero Son Honrados por su Valentía y Excelencia en los Premios de Cook County Crime Stoppers
El jueves 20 de noviembre, varios miembros del Departamento de Policía de Cicero fueron reconocidos entre los mejores de la región cuando Cook County Crime Stoppers honró a varios oficiales por su extraordinaria valentía, profesionalismo y dedicación a la seguridad pública.
Durante la ceremonia en Chicago, los Oficiales Tácticos Luis Martínez y Reynol Ramos recibieron el premio Excelencia en el Cumplimiento de la Ley, mientras que los Detectives Jesús Jiménez, George Rangel y José Gómez fueron galardonados con el Premio a la Salvación de Vida.

En diciembre de 2024, durante una situación extremadamente peligrosa en la que el oficial Luis Duarte fue herido de bala en cumplimiento de su deber, el oficial Rey Ramos brindó atención médica crítica que le salvó la vida bajo enorme presión.
En mayo de 2024, los Detectives Jiménez, Rangel y Gómez enfrentaron valientemente a un agresor armado dentro de un Planet Fitness lleno de personas. Durante el forcejeo se disparó un arma, y los detectives actuaron rápidamente para detener al agresor y evitar que alguien más resultara herido.
Los oficiales Martínez y Ramos también fueron previamente reconocidos con el Premio Irma Ruiz al Valor por la Asociación Hispana de Aplicación de la Ley del Estado de Illinois (HISLEA), mientras que los Detectives Jiménez, Rangel y Gómez recibieron el Premio al Valor de HISLEA el año pasado.
