The Town of Cicero recently welcomed dozens of local business owners to a special meeting at the Cicero Community Center on Thursday, September 25th, designed to connect entrepreneurs with town officials, resources, and one another.

Diana Dominick, liaison for the Town of Cicero, opened the morning on behalf of Town President Larry Dominick and the Board of Trustees.
“Your businesses are invaluable to Cicero’s growth and community spirit,” she said. “Today is about making connections. You’ll have the opportunity to meet licensing officers, ask questions, network with fellow business owners, and learn about programs that can help you thrive.”

Following her remarks, Business License Director Ismael Vargas addressed the crowd. He emphasized the town’s commitment to supporting local businesses and making the licensing and renewal process as smooth as possible. Vargas also thanked President Dominick and all the officials present for their continued support.
“This is a blessing, to come together as a community and have these conversations,” he said. “Our goal is to make life easier for business owners and ensure you know where to turn for help.”

Town officials from multiple departments introduced themselves, Superintendent of Police Tom Boyle, Deputy Superintendent Gene Talsma, Assistant Chief Steven Schwar, Lieutenant Bryan McDonald, Collector Fran Reitz, Priscilla Santiago – Environmental Health, Jose Arias – Building Department, Superintendent Derek Dominick – Public Works, Deputy Dominic Schullo – Cicero Police Department. Each pledged their partnership and availability to assist Cicero’s businesses.

A highlight of the meeting was a presentation by Deputy Superintendent Dominic Schullo of the Cicero Police Department on the new Real Time Crime Center, a state-of-the-art program designed to enhance public safety. Business owners were shown a video demonstration of how the system works to identify vehicles, track incidents, and provide real-time information to officers in the field. Superintendent Thomas Boyle encouraged businesses to join the initiative by linking their security cameras to the town’s system.
“This program is already helping us solve cases faster and prevent crime,” Boyle explained. “By working together, we can keep Cicero safe for both residents and businesses.”

The discussion then shifted to financial resources. Representatives from Huntington Bank, including Cicero branch manager Julie Cavallero, introduced their Lift Local Business Program, which provides loans, planning support, and funding opportunities—especially for minority- and women-owned businesses. “Our goal is to be with you from start to finish,” Cavallero said. “We want to help you achieve your financial goals and grow your business.”

The meeting concluded with an open networking session, where business owners exchanged cards, ideas, and stories while connecting directly with town officials.

President Larry Dominick, who closed the event, praised the strong turnout and reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to the business community.
“Our businesses are the backbone of Cicero,” he said. “Working together, we will continue to make this town safe, prosperous, and welcoming for all.”

Cicero Organiza Reunión de Empresarios con Enfoque en Crecimiento, Seguridad y Comunidad

El Municipio de Cicero recientemente dio la bienvenida a decenas de propietarios de negocios locales a una reunión especial en el Centro Comunitario de Cicero el jueves 25 de septiembre, diseñada para conectar a los emprendedores con funcionarios municipales, recursos y entre ellos mismos.
