President Larry Dominick expressed his grand appreciation to all veterans, “Honoring our veterans is one of the greatest privileges of my role as Town President. Their courage, sacrifice, and dedication have protected our freedoms and shaped the community we are proud to call home. Today, we celebrate each of you and thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your service to our country and to Cicero.”

Toni Sweatman, Director of Military Families of Cicero, opened the event by leading attendees in the National Anthem and recognizing the importance of supporting veterans, “I’d like to take this opportunity to thank Town President Larry Dominick and the Town Board for always supporting and celebrating veterans for their service.”

During the program, veterans stood to share their names and branches of service, representing decades of commitment to the United States Navy, Army, Marines, Reserve, and other military branches. Their presence reminded the community of the courage, dedication, and sacrifices made by those who serve.

Students from District 99 also shared moving speeches, honoring the history and significance of Veterans Day. Emmanuel Martinez and Joshua Dominguez reflected on the origins of the holiday, the countless sacrifices of veterans, and the importance of remembering those who fought for our freedom. Anthony Mendoza and Marlin Miguel added personal letters of gratitude, expressing heartfelt thanks for the protection and sacrifices provided by veterans, “You fought for our freedom and we appreciate that… You don’t know how much you’ve changed this world for the better. Everything you faced and every challenge you overcame helped keep us free and safe. We are grateful for what you’ve done. We will never forget the wars you fought in or how brave you were.”

State Representative Lisa Hernandez praised the event, highlighting how it not only honored veterans but also educated the next generation about the history and meaning behind their service, “This is also an amazing way to expose our kids to the history of what our veterans fought for and what it means. Let’s celebrate a day that is well-deserved.”

The program also celebrated milestones within the U.S. Armed Forces. Attendees stood to honor the 250th anniversary of the United States Marine Corps, the longstanding history of the Army and Navy, and the service of the Air Force, Coast Guard, and the newest branch, the Space Force. Former Senator Tony Munoz, a veteran of the 82nd Airborne Division, thanked all veterans and their families for their service and sacrifice, emphasizing the strong support Cicero provides to its military community.

The event concluded with a moment of silence for all Americans who have served and given their lives in service, followed by President Dominick and students from District 99 singing God Bless America, and a fun raffle celebrating attendees and volunteers.

President Larry Dominick and First Lady Diana Dominick, alongside the Military Families of Cicero, extended their heartfelt thanks to all veterans, active-duty members, and volunteers for making the day memorable.

Cicero Honra a Nuestros Veteranos en Almuerzo de Apreciación

El 12 de noviembre de 2025, a las 12 p.m., el gimnasio del Centro Comunitario de Cicero se llenó de gratitud, orgullo y espíritu comunitario mientras el Presidente Larry Dominick, la Primera Dama Diana Dominick y las Familias Militares de Cicero daban la bienvenida a los héroes de nuestra nación al Almuerzo de Apreciación del Día de los Veteranos. Residentes y veteranos se reunieron para honrar a los valientes hombres y mujeres que han servido a nuestro país y protegido las libertades que disfrutamos hoy.

El Presidente Larry Dominick expresó su sincero agradecimiento a todos los veteranos, “Honrar a nuestros veteranos es uno de los mayores privilegios de mi rol como Presidente del Municipio. Su valentía, sacrificio y dedicación han protegido nuestras libertades y han dado forma a la comunidad que nos enorgullece llamar hogar. Hoy celebramos a cada uno de ustedes y les damos las gracias de todo corazón por su servicio a nuestro país y a Cicero.”

La Representante Estatal Lisa Hernández elogió el evento, destacando que no solo honró a los veteranos, sino que también educó a la próxima generación sobre la historia y el significado de su servicio, “Esta es también una manera increíble de mostrar a nuestros niños la historia de lo que nuestros veteranos lucharon y lo que significa. Celebremos un día que realmente se lo merecen.”

El programa también celebró hitos dentro de las Fuerzas Armadas de los Estados Unidos. Los asistentes se pusieron de pie para honrar el 250º aniversario del Cuerpo de Marines de los Estados Unidos, la larga historia del Ejército y la Marina, y el servicio de la Fuerza Aérea, la Guardia Costera y la rama más reciente, la Fuerza Espacial. El exsenador Tony Muñoz, veterano de la 82ª División Aerotransportada, agradeció a todos los veteranos y sus familias por su servicio y sacrificio, destacando el sólido apoyo que Cicero brinda a su comunidad militar.

El evento concluyó con un momento de silencio por todos los estadounidenses que han servido y dado su vida en servicio, seguido por el Presidente Dominick y los estudiantes del Distrito 99 cantando God Bless America, y una divertida rifa celebrando a los asistentes y voluntarios.
