Cicero Fire Department participates in Unity Junior High school Safety Day

The Cicero Fire Department participated in the Unity High school “Safety Day” event Saturday where they distributed smoke detectors to residents.

The Cicero Fire Department provides smoke detectors to residents of the Town free of charge. Each resident must complete an application to verify residency in the Town in order to receive the Smoke Detectors.

“The smoke detectors are free of charge through a grant we receive,” said Fire Chief Michael Piekarski.

“Any resident who needs a new smoke detector can come to the Fire Department and complete an application.”

Piekarski said that 127 applications were completed during the Unity High school Safety Day held on Saturday August 14, 2021.

Firefighters also displayed Fire Department equipment and allowed children and residents to inspect the trucks, vehicles and equipment while learning about family and home safety.
