The Town of Cicero gathered in celebration for the grand reopening of Town Hall Bowl, a beloved community landmark that has stood for more than 60 years. Residents, local officials, and families came together for a ribbon-cutting ceremony to mark the bowling alley’s exciting renovation and new chapter.

Town President Larry Dominick, who bowled at the alley in his younger years, praised the transformation and stressed the importance of keeping bowling alive in Cicero. “Bowling is a tradition, and a lot of bowling alleys have been torn down. This is the last one standing in Cicero,” he said. “It’s a great family game, and I hope people come here to enjoy it. I want to compliment the owner for doing such a great job.”

Dominick reflected on Cicero’s rich history of bowling, recalling lanes once found throughout the town — from Cicero Bowl on 21st Street to Governor Lanes on Roosevelt Road. “I used to run kids’ leagues, and it’s very important to give young people something positive to do,” he added. “I’d love to see more kids and adults come out and make this place flourish.”

The new owner, Yianni Mavrakis, expressed deep pride in the renovation, which he has been working on for months. “This project has been about bringing the space back to the community,” he said. “I love nostalgia, and I love places that bring people together. Seeing families laugh, smile, and enjoy themselves here means everything to me.”

Mavrakis explained that while the bowling alley has received a facelift, he was intentional about preserving its original character. “The bones of this place — the wood lanes, the history — are what give it spirit. We’re not the fanciest center, but we have a lot of heart, and I want to lean into that.” His goal, he shared, is to make Town Hall Bowl more than just a business: “My hopes are for this to truly become a community center — a third place where people can come together every day.”

First Lady Mrs. Diana Dominick, Town Clerk Maria Punzo-Arias, Town Trustee Blanca Vargas, and Business License Director Ismael Vargas were present to mark the occasion.

As the ribbon was cut and the doors opened, guests poured inside to see the refreshed space and take part in the first games of the bowling alley’s new era. With its mix of nostalgia, family fun, and community spirit, Town Hall Bowl is once again rolling strong in Cicero.

El Municipio de Cicero se reunió para celebrar la gran reapertura de Town Hall Bowl, un querido lugar comunitario que ha existido por más de 60 años. El Presidente Municipal Larry Dominick, quien jugaba boliche en el lugar durante su juventud, elogió la transformación y destacó la importancia de mantener vivo el boliche en Cicero. “El boliche es una tradición, y muchos salones han sido demolidos.
