Cicero’s Boy’s Club, 5500 West 25th Street, was chosen recently by the organization, “Let’s Play,” to participate in a challenge to encourage kids to participate in exercise.
The “Let’s Play” organization is sponsored by Dr. Pepper and Snapple and focuses on having kids play and keep a healthy family lifestyle. Their goal is to help families achieve a healthy lifestyle by providing the tools, places and inspiration to make physical activity a daily priority.
“We were one of the lucky clubs chosen to participate in the Let’s Play Physical Challenge with a chance to win $20,000 of brand new sports equipment for our Club,” said Cicero Boy’s Club Executive Director Edgar Montiel.
“Each morning a challenge of the day was posted on their Facebook page. We recorded our kids completing the challenge and submit it everyday. We were to do this each day for three weeks, and at the end of submission, we chose one video that would be entered into the “fan favorite” voting process. This is where we needed to engage our social media networks, friends, family, community, and members to vote once a day for a week.”
Montiel said the Cicero Boys Club was notified they had won by a substantial margin.

Montiel said the $20,000 prize will be used to upgrade the club’s sporting equipment and gymnasium.
