The Town of Cicero, in partnership with the Illinois Air Team, is bringing essential state services directly to residents by offering a full week of free vehicle emissions testing. This convenient opportunity is designed to make it easier for residents to stay compliant with state regulations—without the need to travel to testing sites in other towns.
Town President Larry Dominick, a longtime advocate for improving access to state services, emphasized the benefit to the community.
“It saves people time,” he said. “They don’t have to go to Bedford Park. It’s convenient, but it’s only temporary—so whoever needs a test, make sure to come.”
State Representative Lisa Hernandez also highlighted the importance of bringing services closer to home.
“If you’ve missed your emissions test or haven’t received your vehicle sticker because of it, this is the perfect time to get it done,” she said. “Especially for our seniors—it’s right here, in your backyard.”
She further praised the Town’s continued efforts to make government work for the people.
“This is what good government looks like,” Hernandez added. “Anytime I have the chance to work with the Town of Cicero to bring real benefits to the community, I’m there.”
The emissions testing event will take place from June 16–20 (closed Thursday, June 19) at 34th Street and Laramie Avenue, operating daily from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Town Clerk Maria Punzo-Arias emphasized the environmental impact and health benefits of the event:
“This is about convenience and compliance,” she said. “By working with the state, we’re helping residents meet air quality standards while also protecting the health of our community—especially our children—with cleaner air to breathe.”
Town officials, the Cicero Police Department, and the Illinois Air Team worked closely together to make this event possible.

El Municipio de Cicero se Asocia con el Illinois Air Team para Ofrecer Pruebas de Emisiones Gratuitas a los Residentes
El Municipio de Cicero, en colaboración con el Illinois Air Team, está trayendo servicios estatales esenciales a los residentes al ofrecer una semana de pruebas de emisiones de vehículos completamente gratuitas. Esta oportunidad conveniente está diseñada para facilitar que los residentes cumplan con las regulaciones estatales sin tener que viajar a centros de prueba en otras localidades.
El Presidente Municipal Larry Dominick, defensor desde hace mucho tiempo del acceso ampliado a servicios estatales, destacó el beneficio para la comunidad.
“Esto le ahorra tiempo a la gente,” dijo. “Ya no tienen que ir hasta Bedford Park. Es conveniente, pero es solo temporal—entonces, quien necesite la prueba, que no lo deje pasar.”
La Representante Estatal Lisa Hernandez también subrayó la importancia de acercar estos servicios a la comunidad.
“Si no hiciste tu prueba de emisiones o no has recibido tu calcomanía del vehículo por esa razón, este es el momento ideal para hacerlo,” comentó. “Especialmente para nuestros adultos mayores—está aquí mismo, en su vecindario.”
Hernández además elogió los esfuerzos continuos del Municipio destacando que este es un ejemplo de un gobierno que realmente sirve al pueblo.
“Esto es lo que representa un buen gobierno,” añadió. “Cada vez que tengo la oportunidad de colaborar con el Municipio de Cicero para traer beneficios reales a la comunidad, ahí estaré.”
El evento de pruebas de emisiones se llevará a cabo del 16 al 20 de junio (cerrado el jueves 19 de junio) en la intersección de la Calle 34 y la Avenida Laramie, y funcionará todos los días de 10:00 a.m. a 4:00 p.m.
La Secretaria Municipal Maria Punzo-Arias destacó el impacto ambiental y los beneficios para la salud de esta iniciativa:
“Esto se trata de conveniencia y cumplimiento,” dijo. “Al trabajar con el estado, estamos ayudando a los residentes a cumplir con los estándares de calidad del aire, mientras protegemos la salud de nuestra comunidad—especialmente la de nuestros niños—con un aire más limpio para respirar.”
