The Town of Cicero welcomed a shimmering new addition to its business community on Thursday, June 12, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony for Encantto D’ Joyas, located at 2420 S. Laramie Avenue. The event drew town officials, community members, and supporters eager to celebrate the opening of this family-owned business offering handcrafted silver jewelry imported from Mexico.
The ceremony began at 10:00 a.m. with remarks from Ismael Vargas, Director of the Business License Department, who praised the importance of supporting small, family-run businesses rooted in the community.
“We are so blessed, so happy,” Vargas said. “Mom-and-pop shops like this are the heart of our town. They live here, they work here, and they’re helping Cicero thrive.”
Town Clerk Maria Punzo-Arias echoed the sentiment, offering warm wishes on behalf of President Larry Dominick and the Town Board.
“Whatever you need, you know you can count on us,” she said to the owners of Encantto.
Town Assessor Emo Cundari and Trustee John Cava also offered their congratulations, noting the economic value and cultural richness that small businesses bring to the community.
“Stores like this help our neighborhoods grow stronger, provide jobs, and promote stability,” Cundari said.
Following the countdown, the ribbon was cut to cheers and applause, officially opening Encantto D’ Joyas to the public.
Xochitl and Angel Cano, the store’s owners, joined by family, expressed heartfelt gratitude to God, the Cicero community, and town leadership for making their dream possible.
“I thank the Lord every morning for bringing us here,” Angel Cano said. “We’ve felt nothing but love and support from the people of Cicero.”

El Municipio de Cicero dio la bienvenida a un brillante nuevo integrante de su comunidad empresarial el jueves 12 de junio con una ceremonia de corte de listón para Encantto D’ Joyas, ubicada en el 2420 S. Laramie Avenue. Al evento asistieron funcionarios municipales, miembros de la comunidad y simpatizantes entusiasmados por celebrar la apertura de este negocio familiar que ofrece joyería de plata hecha a mano e importada desde México.
La ceremonia comenzó a las 10:00 a.m., con unas palabras de Ismael Vargas, director del Departamento de Licencias Comerciales, quien destacó la importancia de apoyar a los pequeños negocios familiares arraigados en la comunidad.
“Estamos muy bendecidos, muy contentos,” dijo Vargas. “Negocios como este son el corazón de nuestro municipio. Viven aquí, trabajan aquí y están ayudando a que Cicero prospere.”
La Secretaria Municipal María Punzo-Arias coincidió con ese sentir, ofreciendo buenos deseos en nombre del Presidente Municipal Larry Dominick y de la Junta Directiva.
“Lo que necesiten, saben que pueden contar con nosotros,” dijo a los propietarios de Encantto.
El Asesor Municipal Emo Cundari y el Síndico John Cava también ofrecieron sus felicitaciones, señalando el valor económico y la riqueza cultural que los pequeños negocios aportan a la comunidad.
“Tiendas como esta ayudan a fortalecer nuestros vecindarios, crean empleos y promueven estabilidad,” expresó Cundari.
Después de la cuenta regresiva, se cortó el listón entre aplausos, marcando oficialmente la apertura de Encantto D’ Joyas al público.
Xochitl y Ángel Cano, los propietarios de la tienda, acompañados de su familia, expresaron su profundo agradecimiento a Dios, a la comunidad de Cicero y a las autoridades municipales por hacer posible su sueño.
“Le doy gracias a Dios cada mañana por habernos traído aquí,” dijo Ángel Cano. “Hemos recibido puro cariño y apoyo de la gente de Cicero.”
