The Cicero Town Board on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, approved the promotions of six members of the Cicero Fire Department, applauding their dedication and years of service in a ceremony led by Fire Chief Jeff Penzkofer at Town Hall.
“These men have earned this moment through hard work, skill, and their commitment to protecting our community,” said Chief Penzkofer. “We’re proud to recognize them today.”
Three engineers were promoted to the rank of lieutenant. Chief Penzkofer administered the oath of office as each newly promoted lieutenant raised their right hand and pledged to uphold the Constitution and the ordinances of the Town of Cicero.
The new lieutenants are:
- Mark Kaluga
- Mathew Saternus
- Timothy Medina
They were met with applause from fellow firefighters, town officials, and family members, many of whom attended to show their support.
Three firefighters were also promoted to the rank of engineer during the ceremony. As with the lieutenants, each was sworn in and celebrated for their dedication and service.
The newly appointed engineers are:
- James Curda
- Joel Mulbrandon
- Angelo Buscemi
Each received congratulations and words of encouragement as they stepped into their new roles.
Town President Larry Dominick congratulated the group, stating, “I know you’re all hardworking men, and I also know you’re going to have to work a little harder now,” he said with a smile. “We have the best fire department, the best police department, and the best public works in any town—I guarantee it. Thank you for everything you do.”
The promotions reflect the Cicero Fire Department’s continued commitment to excellence in leadership and public safety.
La Junta Municipal de Cicero aprueba la promoción de seis bomberos
La Junta Municipal de Cicero aprobó el martes, el 27 de mayo, la promoción de seis miembros del Departamento de Bomberos de Cicero, reconociendo su dedicación y servicio ejemplar durante una ceremonia oficial en el Ayuntamiento encabezada por el Jefe de Bomberos Jeff Penzkofer.
“Estos hombres se han ganado este momento con esfuerzo, habilidad y un firme compromiso con la seguridad de nuestra comunidad,” dijo el Jefe Penzkofer. “Estamos orgullosos de reconocerlos hoy.”
Tres ingenieros fueron promovidos al rango de teniente. El Jefe Penzkofer les tomó el juramento oficial, en el que prometieron respetar la Constitución y las ordenanzas del Municipio de Cicero.
Los nuevos tenientes son:
· Mark Kaluga
· Mathew Saternus
· Timothy Medina
Fueron recibidos con aplausos por parte de compañeros, funcionarios del municipio y familiares presentes.
También se promovieron tres bomberos al rango de ingeniero, quienes igualmente prestaron juramento y fueron reconocidos por su trabajo y dedicación.

Cada uno recibió felicitaciones mientras asumían sus nuevos roles.
El Presidente Municipal Larry Dominick felicitó a todos los promovidos y expresó: “Sé que todos son hombres trabajadores y ahora les tocará trabajar aún más. Tenemos el mejor departamento de bomberos, el mejor departamento de policía y los mejores servicios públicos de cualquier municipio, se los garantizo. ¡Gracias por todo lo que hacen!”
