Cicero adds three new Ambulances to the Fire Department
The Town of Cicero has recently added three brand-new ambulances to its Fire Department fleet, a much-anticipated upgrade made possible by Town President Larry Dominick and the Board of Trustees. The ambulances, which arrived over the past three months, will soon be put into service, thanks to collaborative efforts with IDPH and Loyola.
Assistant Fire Chief Steve Schwar expressed gratitude for the new equipment, which replaces older ambulances that were overdue for retirement. “We’re very excited about this,” he said. “The other ones definitely needed to be replaced. This is like a Christmas gift from the town to our firefighters.”
The new ambulances have been a morale booster for the department. According to Steve, one of the most frequent complaints from firefighters was about the aging ambulances. “It’s good to know we now have reliable equipment to continue protecting the town,” he added.
Plans are already underway for the retired vehicles. One may be donated, while the other two will be evaluated for future use. With the new ambulances in rotation, the department will now maintain a fleet of five vehicles, ensuring readiness and efficiency.
“Our ambulances are used daily and are always run into the ground,” Steve noted. “This upgrade was absolutely necessary, and we’re very appreciative of the town’s support.”
The addition of the ambulances is another testament to Cicero’s commitment to public safety, reinforcing the town’s dedication to protecting its residents.
