Town of Cicero Spreads Holiday Cheer with Gift Distribution
On Saturday, December 14, 2024, the Town of Cicero brought holiday joy to hundreds of families with its annual gift distribution event. Held at the Public Safety Building, the event began at 10 a.m. and provided gifts to Cicero children whose families had signed up in advance. In addition to toys, families received Target gift cards, hats, gloves, wrapping paper, and batteries, ensuring their holiday season was complete.
The event was made possible through the efforts of Town President Larry Dominick, the board of trustees, dedicated staff, and numerous volunteers. Special Events Director Patty Salerno highlighted the immense planning and community collaboration that went into making the event a success.
“President Dominick and the board of trustees, along with our amazing staff, work tirelessly to make this happen,” said Salerno. “Mr. Louie Guido, a former firefighter, does an outstanding job gathering donations from businesses, residents, and friends. These contributions help fund this event and make it possible for us to serve over 600 families and more than 1,100 children this year.”
The preparation for the event begins midway through the year, with planning intensifying in November when registration opens. Salerno emphasized the significance of the donations, explaining how crucial they are to the event’s success. “Without them, it would be very hard. These donations, along with the funding President Dominick sets aside, allow us to provide a joyful Christmas for so many children.”

Adding to the festive atmosphere, Santa and Mrs. Claus made a special appearance, spreading holiday cheer to the eager children. Volunteers, including town employees and residents, played a key role in organizing and distributing the gifts.
Carenthia Williams, a Cicero resident and member of the town’s Parent Patrol, expressed her gratitude for the event. “The town has made a big impact in my life. I signed up my son because there is financial need, and I am very grateful for the opportunity,” she said. “Thank you, and Merry Christmas to you all.”
The gift distribution brought smiles to countless children and families, reinforcing Cicero’s strong sense of community and compassion during the holiday season.

El sábado 14 de diciembre de 2024, el Municipio de Cicero trajo alegría navideña a cientos de familias con su evento anual de distribución de regalos.
