Cicero’s Health Department’s efforts to foster healthy lifestyles turned its focus onto women during a day-long event at the Community Center. The Well-Women Day on May 8 featured information and services highlighting ways to improve the livelihood and longevity of the town’s women.
“The first step towards improving our health is knowing exactly where we are starting,” said Sue Grazzini, Health Department director. Through screenings for cholesterol, glucose, hemoglobin, body mass index, oral health, and other services, women learned where they were compared to national health standards.
The event, a part of National Well-Women Week, also included services to help women feel relaxed and pampered, through manicures, facials, massages, hair stylings, and more. All the services, both health and beauty, were provided free to the residents.
