Mother/Son Dance Continues Superhero Tradition

Cicero mothers enjoyed a special night with their younger gentlemen as they filled Cicero’s Community Center for the annual Mother/Son Dance. The event was sponsored by the Cicero Youth Commission, as well as Town President Larry Dominick and the Town of Cicero Board: Clerk Maria Punzo-Arias, Supervisor Joe Virruso, Assessor Emilio “Emo” Cundari, Collector Fran Reitz, and trustees Bob Porod, Larry Banks, Victor Garcia, and John Cava,

“After last year’s success with the superhero theme, we felt it was a great way to continue the fun and turn it into a tradition,” said CYC Director Patti Sturdevant.

The dance fell on May 10, the Friday before Mother’s Day, and featured a catered dinner, dancing throughout the night, and other fun activities. Mothers also received a photo with their sons to take home as a memento.

“As a father, and now grandfather, I feel like time speeds up the second our children are born. Just like the Father/Daughter Dance, this is a way for parents to capture as many memories with their kids as possible,” Dominick said.
