Superheroes and sports stars were on hand recently, when mothers and their sons dressed up as Batman, the Flash, Ninja Turtles and more, as they bonded at this year’s annual Mother/Son Dance sponsored by the Cicero Youth Commission.
The dance, held on May 11 took a turn towards masked marvels as a way to create a more entertaining atmosphere, said CYC Director Patti Sturdevant.
“Americans, especially young boys, have always loved superheroes, whether in comic books or real life,” Sturdevant said. “Bringing them into the dance was our way of taking the fun to a new level for them.”
Amid the characters on display, mothers and sons got to enjoy a catered dinner, dance throughout the night, and other fun activities. Mothers received a photo with their sons to take home as a memento.
“This is a newer event than our popular Father/Daughter Dance, but it is just as successful and another way in which our parents have more opportunities to make memories with their kids while they’re young,” Town President Larry Dominick said.
