With summer shirts, upbeat music and plenty of food, Cicero’s seniors gathered together to give the summer months their signature send off through the annual Summer Picnic at the Cicero Community Center on Aug. 15.
The annual gathering continues Town President Larry Dominick’s efforts to provide more programs and services for the town’s senior residents.
“The best part of hosting these events is that we are always finding ways to have community interaction,” Dominick said. “We don’t want to see anyone have to stay home by themselves all the time but instead have them come out and be with others and enjoy their time in our town.”
Residents enjoyed a delicious meal served by town officials and members from District 99 and Morton High School District 201. They then put on their dancing shoes and boogied to their favorite songs, laughed over the summer fun, and talked with officials and other party-goers.
Joining Dominick and the Senior Activities Director Susan Banks in hosting the annual picnic were Town Clerk Maria Punzo-Arias, Supervisor Joe Virruso, Collector Fran Reitz, Assessor Emilio “Emo” Cundari, and trustees Bob Porod, Larry Banks, Victor Garcia and John Cava.
