Cicero Celebrates Mexican Culture with Cinco de Mayo

Thousands of folks from the Chicagoland area flocked to Cicero, joining residents celebrating Cinco de Mayo. The annual festival, held at the Cicero Fairgrounds at 34th and Laramie, kicked off the town’s summer schedule of outdoor activities.

Hosted by Town President Larry Dominick and the Cicero Mexican Cultural Committee, the four-day affair featured live bands, delicious fair food, carnival rides and games, and other attractions that have transformed the local festival into the largest Cinco de Mayo celebration in the region.

Included in the celebration was the first public appearance of this year’s Miss Señorita Cicero, Kate Gonzalez, who helped present the annual Larry Dominick President’s Cup to Hawthorne Park Panteras, defeating the Clyde Park Manchesters soccer team, the culmination of the regional tournament.

“This continues to be the perfect start to a wonderful season of outdoor activities, especially for many kids and families looking to stay busy,” said Town President Larry Dominick.
