One of the main goals for Town Assessor Emilio “Emo’ Cundari is to ensure every resident takes advantage of any property tax reduction possible. To make that happen, he hosts an annual appeals seminar with Cook County Commissioner Dan Patlak as the annual property tax appeal window opens up for Cicero residents.
The focus of the seminar is to help Cicero residents through the appeals proces in an effort to reduce their tax rates for the coming year. It was held on Aug.10 to ensure home owners had plenty of time to file their appeals before the Aug. 30 deadline.
“Our focus is different from other assessor offices in the area,” Cundari said. “Cicero does not assess residential properties but instead aids in the appeals process. We want to make sure residents have the best possible rate next year.”
Cundari added that seminars like the one hosted with Patlak are one of the many free ways his office works to help residents.
“If you think you are paying a higher tax rate than your neighbor, we will help find that out and what you can do to lower the bill,” Cundari said.
