The Town of Cicero honored employee Hector Lora, the first disabled employee to work for the town, at the board meeting on February 14.
Lora is retiring from his post after providing staff support to the town for 25 years. Police staff said they would miss his personality and his contributions to the office.
The town has a unique program to hire and place disabled individuals in various positions. The program was implemented by Town President Larry Dominick and the Board of Trustees in 2005. Lora came through Seguin Services, a non-profit organization in town that serves disabled community members and their families.
“These men and women deserve our support and have opportunities for employment,” Dominick said. “There are more than two dozen disabled employees who do great work at Town Hall. Congratulations to Hector Lora. He will always be a role model for others.”
